Beastly Mage

Today's card is another exclusive preview from set 22. This Tayuya comes out at turn 1, which is good in most cases. She's a good supporter when Healthy, and that can help at her Turn. Notice something about her?

That's right: no Effect Text.

She still has Ambush, which is good. She also has "The Four Sound Ninja" as a Characteristic, so that helps with any other cards that require this. She can be good in Limited, but we have to see if there's any Support for no-effect Water Ninjas in this set (though she also helps with existent No-Effect Decks).

Tayuya
[Vanilla]

Welcome back to another day of previews everyone! We have another vanilla ninja for you today, just plain Tayuya. Currently in block as of the date of this review there are only 3 Tayuya legal in block. 2 of them are borderline unplayable because of their ridiculous hand costs. This Tayuya looks like the Vanilla Ino stats-wise, but trading out growth for ambush. (Finally, one of the new sound four gets ambush.) Unfortunately, she didn't get the mental power or dual combat attribute that Ino had, so there is a bit of a difference. It seems that Bandai is wanting to give every element an on color 3 support on turn 1, and we just got water's version. I can easily see her being ran at most 2 of, because your third Tayuya will be [Cursed Flute] to negate missions.

I would have really liked this Tayuya if she had (State 1) behind her name, but unfortunately that is not the case. I would have made her state 2 version so much more playable. Oh well. She's still a decent 3 support for water on turn 1.

Limited: 4/5 (Beatsticks are always nice to draft)
Unlimited: 3/5
Block: 3.5/5, but it's up to you if you prefer Karin as your 1 drop.
