Beastly Mage

Tenzo (Anbu Days)
Notice something about this card? He's got a printed name, a characteristic name, yet is non-unique...
More than one Yamato in play?!
(yes please)
He's got some good stats for a turn 3, but the stats get better if you don't deploy a Ninja. When that happens, he gets +2/+1 during the showdown. Note it says "deployed" and not "put in play". So, even if you swarm with the Anbu Ninjas that allow you to put them in play from your hand or any other effect that doesn't count as a deployment he still gets his effect during that turn (remember: there are ways to deploy during your opponent's turn). Expect this guy to make things interesting.

N-1104 Tenzo (Anbu Days) [Days Gone By]

The next ninja for Anbu week is Tenzo, better known as Yamato. Interestingly, Tenzo is Non-Unique, so you can have him and Yamato out on the field simultaneously, however, you must play Yamato first. If you have a non-unique card on the field, you cannot play a ninja with the same name without Non-Unique. YOu can however, do it the other way around. Tenzo's stats are decent for a T3 ninja, however, they are augmented up to 5/4 if you did not deploy a ninja. This goes well with Monday's preview, Anbu Assault, since it compensates your lack of a deploy with power. If you don't run Anbu Assault, this card is still pretty good, since his effect will activate during your opponent's turn, making him a 5/4 and 3/2 ninja during your opponent's turn. At turn 3, those stats are pretty high, and can prevent some attacks from your opponent. It also helps Anbu's curve and is an all around solid card. For Earth, it is good as well since it allows you to play Yamato's jutsus early game, however, if you play him before your other Yamato's, he might get you in the way.
