Beastly Mage

Kisame Hoshigaki

This version of Kisame is good, but: is it THAT good? Notice that he's got Ambush, but his effect only kicks in when he's deployed from your hand. If he does reach the field that way you get to put in play a Ninja Blade Coin that's basically a copy of this guy. Same stats, same characteristics, and same Element and Combat Attribute. Problem with the Water Clone Coin is that it leaves the field if it's still alive at the end of the turn. This card is good if you want to rush your opponent late-game, but there's better versions of Kisame out there, IMO. So, I don't think this one quite cuts it.

09/14/10 N-821 Kisame Hoshigaki [Water Clone]
Today's card is a Kisame that was really only good for one set. Before rotation, this Kisame had some serious shenanigans with "Corp in Black", as Kisame's effect would trigger CiB's effect twice and instantly kill two of your opponent's ninjas. After rotation, this card isn't as good anymore compared to other popular water T5 ninjas, such as Guren and Kabuto [Researcher].
He's the weakest of the current legal Kisame's, in my opinion; the other two being the reprints of [Mysterious Man From The Hidden Mist Valley] and [Chakra Eater Sword]. I prefer those two since they both offer heavy chakra destruction, which is harder to do now without the help of "Threat of the Tailed Beasts" and "Yoroi Akado [Unique Talent].

The only trump this card has over the other two is that it has Ambush, but playing it via ambush does not activate the effect. His main strong point is sending out multiple teams and his clone in for a quick rush to gain a couple of BRs, but afterwards this card is just a lame five drop.
Limited: 2/5
Unlimited: 3/5 Good with CiB
Block: 2/5 Run Guren or Kabuto instead.
