Beastly Mage

Sai

Today's card is an Animal Deck-Friendly version of Sai. During your Mission Phase you can discard one card. Then, you can put in play from your Discard Pile one Animal Ninja with its Effect Text negated. If that Animal Ninja is still in play at the end of the turn you remove that card from play. This can let you get a big Ninja Toad, or maybe a Ninja Dog for extra support, or any other Animal. Remember that the effect's gonna be negated, so the Animal would be used for an Attack (like a finishing hit or just some extra damage). In Limited he could be good if you manage do Draft some Animals. In Constructed and Block he could be even better.

N-916 Sai [Ink Summons]
===================

Today's card is probably one of the worst Sai's to date, in my opinion. His effect is basically the same as the now blocked Hikaru Tsuki client, except that the put in play animal is killed at the end of the turn and its effect is negated. Personally, I don't like this at all in Animal decks. At best, you can get a Gamabunta/Giant Ninja Toad in play at T4, but with their effects negated, it is not as devastating. The main reason why Hikaru was played was to deploy one animal for free during your turn due to the wording of his effect (as well as Sai). The way it is worded, you can discard an animal from your hand then play that animal, getting around the one ninja per turn effect for your animals. You can now do this with Set 19 Monkey King Emna, so run him instead. If you want to necro your dead animals, play Surprise Help from set 18 instead.
