N-715 Mahiro [HIDDEN BLADE]

Man, what a weird weekend. Got a new vid up on my youtube account (MechieSomay) featuring Freedori and the effects it would have if reprinted. It's not pretty...but what is would be subbing to the channel...no shame, that's what I've got! But yeah, looking forward to this week and glad to know the locations of the SJC events, it seems like my team (JSN) will be able to hit a few in the area.

Today's card kind of continues Gaiden week, and we have yet another Stone ninja in Mahiro. He's a pretty reliable guy, so let's check out his stats, shall we:

T2 HC0 Earth
Rock | Male | Ambush
3/2 0/2 CA: Stone
Set 16: Common

I again like this guy, despite his lack of a rank. Ambush on a T2 is a cool thing, male isn't really bad, although chicks hate him! And Rock as a village...it means nothing. Stone combat attribute gives him access to Petrifying Attack, which could be a centerpiece jutsu in this deck, and I really like his power. Great support ninja healthy or injured with a put into play effect, that's cool! But now onto his redundant effect, shall we:

[LIGHTNING SPEED]
When this Ninja is put in play, you can change 1 of your opponent's Ninjas with an Entrance cost of 0 to injured status.

I like this more than Friday's card (I've decided I was sick that day), if only because while hitting a T1 is nice, it's honestly very likely your opponent has a T0 out, while they may have avoided playing a T1 onto the field. Hitting a T0 isn't always very important, but it's worth playing a guy with ambush and a decent CA. If these guys were Weapon/Stone, I would love them so very, very much.

This is another card that makes drafting quite good, and it adds a lot to the element, again giving you a reason to want to go second. In both idea and execution, these are good cards.

Limited: 4/5 Great draft, a first or second pick every time.
Constructed: 2.5/5 If not for the power creep here, it'd be beautiful
Block: 2.5/5 Same here, and will drop when set 11 leaves the block
Art: He's like the snooty waiter you don't want to get, and then you slowly learn to hate over the course of several years...no, this did not happen to me.../5

Today's card is another of the Stone Village trio. Like his bothers before him, he as the effect of changing a ninja two drops lower than him into injured status. Out of the three of them, this one is my favorite since your opponent should always have a 0 drop out, however, this effect isn't good if you draw him after turn 3. He also has Ambush which is nice for making him a charge for Lunch Box.

All and all, this card is pretty decent but not anything spectacular but I think he will be used in some decks. The only thing that peeves me about this card is his effect name... Only Yondaime should have the title of [Lightning Speed].

Limited: 3.5/5 Decent stats and effect
Constructed: 2.5/5 There are better options for Earth but that option is rogue'd to one
Block: 2.5/5 Pretty much the same.
