Obito Uchiha
[Hidden Strength]

#N-711

Review Date: Mar. 3, 2010

Average Card Rating

Limited: 3.15
Constructed: 3.67

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale.
1 being the worst.
3 = average.
5 is the highest rating.

Beastly Mage

Obito Uchiha

Today's card is Kakashi's long-gone friend, Obito. This SR Ninja allows you to negate a Jutsu (that's being used by a Turn 3 or less Ninja) by simply discarding a card from your hand. Pretty good effect, I say. His stats remind me somewhat of Naruto: weak when healthy, strong when injured. He's pretty good in limited, I'd say better than Kakashi (Boyhood). He's also great in constructed. Since he also pumps up Kakashi and Rin, he could be of great help in that format. Try it and see!

Ratings:

Limited: 3/5
Constructed: 3/5

N. Jolly

N-711 Obito Uchiha [HIDDEN STRENGTH]

Still no Kid Kashis for Jolly yet...sad days. But the youtube channel, MechieSomay, is going well and I hope to have a vid up this Weds or so. Beyond that, I want your boys...I've got to stop saying that. Still no word back from Dr. Pepper, but I'll continue to try!

Today's card is one of our favorite crybabies, Obito (who is not Tobi) Uchiha! Another fan favorite who's card kind of reflects that. But enough of the intro, let's check out this cards stats, shall we:

T3 HC0 Fire
Leaf | Male | Chunin | Sharingan Eye | Growth
2/1 5/3 CA: Genjutsu/Weapon
Set 16: Super Rare

A T3 Chunin is nothing to write home about, but Sharingan Eye sure is. Leaf is nice for newherits, and growth is never a bad thing to have. His power though...I hate Naruto style stats, and having to take a beating to get great stats...I'm not much a fan. He's good if you can get him injured, but he's also vulnerable (Water Dragon, anyone?), which is never a good situation to be in. Having both Weapon and Genjutsu is quite nice though, as he's a prime user of Fear by Genjutsu, which is a nice card in and of itself. And now, let's check out it's ability, shall we:

[HIDDEN STRENGTH]
Valid: During the Exchange of Jutsu, you can discard 1 card from your hand. In that case, negate 1 Jutsu card being used by a Ninja with an Entrance cost of 3 or less.
Valid: Your "Kakashi Hatake" and/or "Rin" get +1/+1.

That right there, that first effect (that is thankfully valid!) is pretty useful. It'll stop Kank from jutsuing you, Oro from 10king you, and early game Yakumo/Baby Kashi/ect from abusing Fear by Genjutsu against you. That's a pretty nice thing to have backing you up. At the game goes on, it'll be less and less useful, but unlike it's predecessor, Sasuke [COOTE], it only needs a single discard. It's pump effect will likely only affect Kid Kashi, but even that is worth it. I'm not the biggest fan of this card, but I will admit it has it's uses.

All and all, the men of the Gaiden Series have been pretty nice to us, while their female friend has not. So building your Fire deck with these two guys seems pretty standard now.

Limited: 3/5 A strong card who's effect might matter!
Constructed 3.5/5 I like it, it's nice, but not game breaking
Block: 3.5/5 Same here
Art: Oh geez, he's gonna start crying again! And how do you plan on attacking like that? It's a wonder you didn't die years before this.../5

3/3/10 N-711 Obito Uchiha
====================

Today's card finishes up the trio of Kakashi Gaiden and he is reminiscent of a previous Sasuke Uchiha we have seen... Let's analyze his competence.

Obito Uchiha
Fire EC: 3 HC:0
Leaf | Male | Chunin | Sharingan Eye | Growth
Healthy: 2/1 Injured: 5/3
Combat Attribute: Genjutsu/Weapon

Obito has Naruto syndrome (poor healthy, amazing injured stats) as we all guessed he would; 2/1 healthy stats are plain pathetic but 5/3 injured at turn 3 make him a beast and his stats only get higher with Kakashi (Boyhood). Sharingan Eye is one of the best characteristics to have and he has Uchiha in his name which can further increase his stats with Symbol of the Proud Clan. Finally, both of his combat attributes are two of the best in the game, although Weapon CA isn't all too useful in fire. Genjutsu also makes him a deadly user of Fear by Genjutsu and many other Genjutsu cards out there.
Now his effect:

[Hidden Strength]
Valid: During the Exchange of Jutsu, you can discard 1 card from your hand. In that case, negate 1 Jutsu card being used by a Ninja with an Entrance cost of 3 or less.

Valid: Your "Kakashi Hatake" and/or "Rin" get +1/+1.

His first effect is reminiscent of the card I was talking about earlier, Sasuke Uchiha [COotE]. The difference is that Sasuke has to discard two cards for his effect but it has no restriction to the user of the jutsu and it is not Valid. Personally, I tend to like Sasuke's effect a tad bit more but there are better Sasukes to run so he can be shafted for Obito. Regardless, Obito's effect is very good and can prevent his Fear by Genjutsu from being destroyed if he uses it. his second effect gives Kakashi and Rin a little boost which is the icing on the cake for him.

Unlike Rin, I believe Obito should be ran in every Fire deck right now because of his good effect and he will boost your Kakashi and there are at least 3 Kakashis in most fire decks (between normal, childhood, and boyhood).

Limited: 3.5/5 Good stats and his first effect is great
Constructed: 4.5/ in Uchihaha and Freedori he is incredible
Block: 4.25/5 Fire loses some stuff in block but most of it doesn't hurt Obito too much
