Naruto Uzumaki & Sai

Today's card is a platoon, and somewhat of a strange one. Two valid effects, You win any BR's with this team, they get a growth coin. You win any type of Victory, and they lose a growth coin... >.<

This is one awkward effect, but it could work in the right deck. With both Anbu and Foundation characteristics, they could work in Anbu/Mill decks. But, right now, only time will tell when these two will really do their job right.

N-687 Naruto Uzumaki & Sai [STRAINED RELATIONSHIP]

I am not a monday person, I accept this.  I hope we don't review anything awesome on monday...

Today's card is a platoon from the new set of Naruto and Sai.  That right there kind of makes me sad, as both of these cards are better as parts of their own squads (Naru/Yama and Naru/Hina, Saikura) rather than being a plat.  That's one strike against this card going in, but let's check out it's stats, shall we:

T4 HC0 Lightning/Earth

Leaf | Male | Genin | The Foundation | Anbu | Clone Status | Mental Power: 2 | Platoon

4/4 7/3 CA: Oil/Brush

Set 15: Rare

So it's got a lot of what we'd expect from this card, but honestly there isn't anything new here since they decided to have their own squad together.  Nothing here really stands out above their separate squads, so there's no great reason to dwell here.  Let's go right onto the effect, shall we:

Valid: When you win any Battle Rewards due to this Ninja's Team due to the Showdown, place 1 Growth coin on this Ninja.
Valid: When this Ninja's Team wins a Victory or an Outstanding Victory, remove 1 Growth coin from this Ninja.

That's not a good effect, not at all.  If it gets BRs, you get growth coins.  If it just wins battles, you lose them?  Really?  If both of them pulled you growth coins, I could kind of see it, but losing them due to winning battles is just horrible.  There's really no reason to run this card in your deck, seeing as both ninja have better things to do.

Limited: 1/5 Hard to pull plats off here, still not worth it.

Constructed: 1/5 Easier to pull of plats here, still not worth it.

Block: 1/5 Just as easy to pull of plats here, still not worth it.

Art: Kind of boring and unoriginal art, still not worth it.

Our card today is one of the absolute worst block legal cards available, the Naruto/Sai platoon from the starter deck. You can gain growth coins when you win a BR, yay! But wait, this platoon has a downside? You LOSE growth coins when you win a victory of any sort? WTF? Platoons are not supossed to have a downside because of the difficulty it takes to get them into play. I think Bandai screwed this card up pretty bad; as I'm gessing it must have had some other text originally. It's stats aren't amazing, it can't come in super early, so why cripple this card? The only, only use I can ever see for this card is to more easily squad into Naruto/Sai (which certainly doesn't warrant using deckspace for...)

2/9/10 N-687 Naruto Uzumaki & Sai

Today's card is a platoon with a contradicting effect: each time it's team wins any battle rewards, it gets a growth token; each time it wins a victory or OV, you remove a growth token from it. This effect is not that good at all in my opinion. You can get a brief power-up if your opponent decides not to block but if you chump them they lose power.

Platooning Naruto into this is a waste since the Narutos you should be running have much better effects than this; as for Sai, the stat boost is nice for him. The only really redeeming feature I see for this card is getting out the Naruto/Sai squad.
