Beastly Mage

Sakura Haruno & Tsunade

Today's card is just one of the reasons Kunoichi decks are whooping so much right now. The Sakura/Tsunade squad protects your Female Ninjas, as long as you only have Females out, from your opponent's Male Ninjas (their effects and any Jutsus they use). Even if you don't have just Females out, they're quite good together. Good stats (including 6 Mental), and a bunch of Jutsus that they can use that'll just make your opponent think twice before trying to take them on. In the Kunoichi deck, they own. Trust me on this one.

N-685 Sakura Haruno & Tsunade [POWER OF kUNOICI]

Welcome back to "couple's skate" on Pojo.  It's me, your old friend N. Jolly guiding you through our world of partners this week, and it's getting closer and closer to Valentine's Day!  And tomorrow + Friday, we get preview cards!  Isn't that great?  I love love!

Today's card is a rather fun one from set 15, featuring the two most prolific female ninjas on the show.  But that right there is a problem with this card, that is takes both of those ninja off the board.  I guess I just like having my Sakura and Tsu both on field.  But let's take a look at it's stats, shall we:

T7 HC0 Wind/Earth

Leaf | Female | Chunin | Satoosa | Sannin | Medical | Mental Power: 6 | Mastery | Squad

9/4 7/3 CA: Medicine

Set 15: Super Rare

Lots of keywords with this card, but a few stand out, like Mental Power: 6!  That's a six card draw off of Sakura's Decision, a card any deck running this would play.  Mastery is also quite potent here, as it allows the recycling of all of your Saku/Tsu jutsu, like Cherry Blossom Impact, Clean Hit, and Heaven Kick of Pain.  Wind has pretty good chakra generation, so being able to repeat jutsu like these is a pretty strong ability.  Being a 9/4 monster doesn't hurt either ;)  But even with that, there's the problem of being both Sakura and Tsunade on board, which hurts medical decks (which this probably will be in).  Is it worth it to lose them both?  Let's check out this card's effect, shall we:

Valid: While you have only "Female" Ninjas in play, each of your "Female" Ninjas, including this Ninja, cannot be affected by the effects of Jutsu cards used by your opponents "Male" Ninjas and effects of your opponnet's "Male" Ninjas.

This is really the clincher in most Female decks, but the problem is right now, Female isn't a full deck.  And losing it's two stars (really the only knock I have on this card if you can't tell) isn't great.  Not being able to have any males on board also hurts a lot, as most decks will have the random Shika/Kabu(in medical)/Sasuke in deck, and losing them does not help at all.  For this, your ninjas are almost invincible except to missions, but it's hard to have all females on field all the time.  Seeing some of the things we have received in Set 16, I have a bit more faith in this card to pull the deck together, but only time will tell on this card.

Limited: 2/5 Stat beast, but it's hard to pull off...

Constructed: 3/5 A solid card, I like it.

Block: 3.5/5 A little better here, less to contend with.

Art: Girl's night out is very dangerous in Konoha...but totally worth it!/5

Sakura Haruno and Tsunade

Off the heels of yesterday's abhorrent waste of paper, we bring you a decent squad! Sakura and Tsunade is that monster for Kunoichi decks that is meant to seal the deal. It makes all your girls immune to jutsu as long as no male or genderless ninja are on your side of the field. (So, Tonton screws you over, watch out.) Even if you can't get it's effect, it DOES have mastery, so you can spam Fist of Anger, Cherry Blossom Impact, and Clean Hit with impunity. In medical I wouldn't want to use it unless I have an abundance of medical ninja on the field already, because you are giving two medical ninja up for one, effectively hurting Rules for Medical Ninja. Make sure you keep it protected, because its still succeptible to mission cards and ninja effects.

Limited: 1/5 Squads are hard to use in limited.
Constructed (Block): 4/5

Art: Sakura looks like a girl on a card for once...weird...

2/10/11 N-685 Sakura Haruno & Tsunade

Today's squad is one of the 3 Super Squads we have so far (4 if you include the upcoming Shika/Kakashi Squad) and it has great effect for female decks.

If you only have females out on the field, all of your females including this squad, become unaffected by the effects of your opponent's male ninjas and jutsus used by male ninjas. In female decks, this will make your cards nearly invincible to most decks except other female deck archetypes. Unfortunately, it offers no mission protection so it still falls to people sideboarding Wonderful Days.

Compared to the other super squads, this card is underwhelming because of it's situational effect being only useful to female only decks but at least it has incredible stats. Personally, I believe this card should have been a rare and Naruto & Jiraiya should have been a super, but who cares for my opinion?

Limited: 1.5/5 Its stats make it okay for limited and Sakura and Tsuanade are both commons in FP
Constructed: 4.75/5 In female decks, this card owns
Block: 4.25/5 Females lose a few things in block
