Beastly Mage

Orochimaru

Welcome to another week of reviews, Naruto fans. Today's card is, well, one of the creepiest Ninjas around... 0.o

This version of Orochimaru allows you to look for, let's say, a Kabuto, or a Kimimaro, or another big Water Ninja. Remember, 5 entrance cost + Water symbol. Now, that Ninja will go to your Discard Pile rather than your village on the turn Orochi was put in play. Now, during your Mission Phase (let's say... that turn) you can remove two chakras (no color specified) and put in play that Ninja you just put in your Discard Pile. This only applies if you don't have a Ninja matching those requirements in your village. It's good for swarming, particularly with Water. Try it and see... but keep your Emos away from this guy...

Orochimaru [Forbidden Jutsu]

I'm loving this new trend where we're starting to get good Orochimaru. Took them long enough, am I right?

This guy has a pretty unique effect, with some very interesting applications. His first effect allows him to throw a Turn 5 Water ninja into the discard pile. This can be used to throw Ambush ninja into the Discard Pile and load them into the Chakra area with cards like Threat of the Tailed Beast and Jirobo [Meal], or you can simply use it to fulfill his second effect. By removing two of your Water chakra from play, you can pick up one Turn 5 Water ninja and put it in play. Recycling Kisame [Fierce Monster] seems like a good plan. I personally don't feel like this is the Orochimaru for standard Water builds, but it's not necessarily a bad choice either (I prefer Dream Vessel) due to Mastery.

This guy is absolutely monstrous in Ghost Panic decks though. Play Ghost Panic, revive this guy, bury a Kisame [FM], then RFG your Ghost Panic chakra to revive him? Seems like a pretty sick play. I'm definitely looking forward to picking up a few copies of this guy to tinker with.
