Beastly Mage

Kankuro & Black Ant

Today's card is a new Squad from the upcoming set. This squad, first off, has good stats for a turn 3. Secondly, it gives Poison Coins (which may make a comeback in this set, not sure). But, if the Ninja given the Poison Coin is turn 0 or less then that Ninja is discarded. The cost of this is either a Puppet Ninja from your Village or your Chakra Area. Losing field presence is not good, so it's good that this effect can activate from the Chakra Area. I'm not sure if this will be usable in a booster draft, but in constructed this card could rock. Try it and see!

N-641 Kankuro & Black Ant

Again, we're reviewing Sand week...exciting, I know...

Today we've got the Squad of Kankuro & Black Ant. It's a T3 squad with better stats than all of the other squads, 5/4 2/3, Genin, Male, Puppet, and Sand, which isn't the biggest help, but will work if you're teching it into an NVS deck, as he can still go out. Being puppet is kinda cool, as it gives it access to Concealed Weapon, but if you're running Kank, you should have no shortage of users for that jutsu.

This squad does have a pretty interesting effect though, one that's sure to work if played well (or with Trick): During your mission phase, you can discard one Puppet Ninja (card) from your field or chakra area. If you do that, place one poison coin on one of your opponent's ninja cards. If that ninja is Turn 2 or lower, discard the target. That's pretty nice, but with the new Choji floating around, it'll be hard to make those coins matter too much. Still, playing that pretty much cuts off one team from going out to battle, which again can be game changing. But the best use I see for it is using it to kill small ninjas, such as Shikamaru-Flex, Kankuro-Trick, and other ninjas that work great as walls.

Constructed:3.25/5 A good platoon if you're running both ninjas
Limted:1/5 Yeah, we don't know if they're both even in the set...
Art:4/5 I actually like this artwork.
StormVyper Zera Kankuro & Black Ant [No Mercy]

Man, this card is nasty in a Puppet deck. Puppets are literally throw away ninja in a sense, as there are so many ways to bring them back or simply get new ones. Dropping a Poison coin means you can instantly keep any problematic
ninja out of battle for the remainder of the game, and if they have less than 2 Entrance Cost, they succumb to the venom and die. Merciless indeed. Your deck has to be built towards playing this card though, as Black Ant is like the worst of
Kankuro's puppets for his low stats and normally doesn't see any play because of it. This card would be infinitely better IMO if it was a platoon instead of a Squad. Summoning it would give you fuel for it's effect, and you wouldn't be forced to actually play Black Ant. Still, this guy can dish out

quite a beating.

Hey guys, today's review is the newest squad in the form of support for puppets:

Kankuro and Black Ant N-641

Well, what's there to say, this card screams Kankuro[Trick]. It's a turn 3 squad which is overpowered for turn 3, it's Sand, Genin and puppet. The 5/4 on turn 3 means a great support for any wind deck. It also carries manipulation and weapon as well as very good injured stats (for its turn). Overall, stat-wise it's a very good ninja and should be ran in any and all puppet decks.

Now for its effect, you kill a puppet in your village or discard one from your chakra (Puppet Show anyone?), then you select and kill any turn 2 or less ninja, any turn 3 or higher cannot be sent out to battle because of the poison coin it receives due to this effect. This effect has tons of potential and gives puppet players an alternative strategy to the infamous Kankuro [Tactician] and helps you incorporating Kankuro[Trick] with more benefits. It also gives more playability to Puppet Show, a mission that I haven't seen used or barely used at all and I think has a lot of potential, this card bringing that to realization.

A new squad presenting more options for puppet users and at the same time VERY useful and it's for sure to be puppet exclusive because of its effect. The only negative part about it is that its genin and not jonin, but no card can be perfect.

Limited: 1/5 (No idea if these come here at all)
Constructed: 4/5 (Very useful for puppet decks)

Art: Funkoff!!!/5
