Beastly Mage

Sasuke Uchiha [Thirst for Power]

The first ever Sasuke that requires a discard (the discard being a mission or jutsu card, not really his cost) unless you wanna discard this guy before he even does anything. Turn-2, growth,Sharingan Eye, 5/2 in healthy... plus a protection effect?! He cannot be removed by your opponent's missions or jutsus. He's also Leaf AND Rouge, with the Taijutsu attribute. Could be good for a Fire deck.

Alucard of the Abyss

Today's CotD is one of two new Sasuke from BoD. Today's card is Sasuke Uchiha [Thirst for Power].

He is a turn 2 Sasuke with amazingly solid turn 2 stats. 5/2 Healthy and 0/0 Injured (just like most Sasuke). He has a Taijutsu Combat Atribute and like always Sharingan Eye. Now two points of interest to note here. First off is that he has growth, making his stats an incredible 6/2 on turn 2 if you Growth him into play. Second is the fact that he is no longer a Genin rank Ninja, but now a Rogue Ninja. Next up is his effect and there are two parts of it and I'll start with the first half. The first part of his effect is if you put him into play you either have to Discard a Mission or a Jutsu, or discard Sasuke. Now this seems like a downside but for a turn two with these stats he has to have some downside. Now me, I see this as a positive because it has amazing combo potential with one card, which I will get to in a minute. The second part of his effect is that he can't be removed by the effects of your Opponent's Mission or Jutsu cards. Now the Jutsu part of that is pretty good but the Mission part of it is near useless as there is only one Mission card that sees some play that removes Ninjas and that's End of the Demon. His effect would have been much cooler if it would have been Jutsu and Ninja effects. Overall, he has a pretty solid effect with a big downside but a worthwhile reward for that downside.

Onto his combo potential, there is a big one and one that made me take notice of it when this set first came out. Jonin's Intervention. This can fit nicely in Jonin's Intervention for two reasons. First being that the downside to Jonin's Intervention is that the Ninjas they use to trigger Intervention do so at the end of the turn so you have no opportunity to organize your new Jonin into any teams. This Sasuke helps you get around that by being discarded during the Mission Phase. If you trigger Intervention with this then you immediately get to organize your newly played Jonin and put him in that team with Shikamaru [US Formation] etc. The other thing nice about it is that it allows you to drop copies of, otherwise useless, Jonin's Interventions when you don't have the rest of the combo pieces. Overall, he is pretty darn good in this decktype.

In normal play I see him being decked every now and then, but the best Sasuke to play right now is [Special Power] unless your playing Freedori. If you don't have [Special Power] then this is a pretty good option if you want to include a Sasuke and a good 2 drop for Fire. Also, as long as Gaara is still in the meta, this Sasuke will see less play because of his non-Valid effect and bad injured stats.

In Limited this card is amazing. You will most likely have extra useless Jutsu and Mission cards decked anyways because of the nature of Limited so that makes him a first deck choice. His stats are solid for this format and his effect might help every once in a while.

The art is pretty cool, I like the eye effect it's got going on.

Constructed: 3.9/5 (he works in Intervention and is a decent Sasuke, but prominent Damage effects keep his score lower)
Limited: 5/5 (amazing here)
Art: 4/5 (I like it)

Tomorrow we get to a new Uchiha introduced in Battle of Destiny and a pretty decent one at that.

Sasuke [Thirst for Power]

A GREAT splash. 5/2 by turn 2 is AMAZING! Sure he has a hand cost that can’t be payed by Ninjas, and it doesn’t become Chakra, at least it can be a different element. In a meta that doesn’t see too much Tragic Name (Sasuke’s weakness. I don’t believe he’s really that weak when injured), this card’s a god.

4/5 (splashed in a non-TN environment
L: 5/5

N-257 Sasuke Uchiha [Thirst for Power]

As you can see Sasuke has grown. Now he has a crazy yellow eyeball. His stats are very good for a turn 2,growth, Taijutsu Combat Attribute, but his effect is basically a hand cost for healthy stats equal to that of most turn 4 ninja.

The fact that damage effects and jutsu are run in most tournaments hurt this card that is basically useless when injured. On a positive note it has some synergy in Jonin Intervention decks, which should run enough draw power to recover fairly quickly.

For Limited he's not too shabby. Like usual we look primarily at stats and cost. In my experience with drafts you're lucky if you can get enough cards of the same element so junk missions and jutsu aren't too uncommon.

Limited: 3.5/5

Wyatt Since we reviewed the turn 2 Naruto yesterday, it apparently seems fitting to review the turn 2 Sasuke today. You'll notice that this Sasuke is a rogue ninja, and has no rank. But it still has growth, which on a 5/2,0/0 ninja is quite nice. Like most Sasukes, his injured stats suck, but he has great healthy stats for a turn 2, especially if you growth him. What makes this Sasuke special, is that when he is put in play you have to discard a jutsu or mission card from your hand, otherwise he dies. But, once he's in play, your opponent can't remove him through Jutsu or mission cards. Not bad, but there aren't too many removal missions being used nowadays, and would you really use End of the Demon on a turn 2 ninja with no rank? Also, he doesn't protect against ninja effects, or damage from jutsus, so you can still take him out pretty easily. If he had been immune to jutsu damage, he might see some play, but Gaara(TN), Choji(F), Dosu(SI/TP), Naruto(OLA), Neji(FTWBIM), and a few others can all take him out pretty easily(and most of the ninjas I mentioned are heavily run. Plus Shikamaru could just negate his effect.

Constructed:3/5(Not bad, but still prey to damage, takes a hand cost on turn 2[that doesn't even become chakra], and is still almost useless when injured)
Limited:4/5(good pull here, not as much damage, and he is a strong ninja on turn 2.)
Megamarik Welcome fellow pojo'ers! Today's card is another main character, Sasuke Uchiha N257.

However in this picture, he's obviously going to orochimaru for power, which it greatly resembles as the stats shown. He's no longer genin but he has gained rogue ninja. 5/2 healthy on turn 2 is amazing; even with the "hand cost" that is very great, especially if growthed. And he cannot be removed from play by Jutsu/Mission. Great effect.

However, with the current meta, and his injured stats 0/0, Gaara TN will overcome this Sasuke. Without a Gaara TN however, I see this as one of the best turn 2's out there.

Limited: 4/5
Constructed: 3/5
Constructed without Gaara TN: 4/5
