Sasuke Uchiha, Memory of Despair

Card Number: N-188

Review Date: 05.22.07

Average Card Rating

Constructed: 2.00
Limited: 2.60

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale 1 being the worst.
3 ... average. 5 is the highest rating.

Sasuke Uchiha [Memory of Despair]
Leaf/Male/Ninja Academy Student/Fire
Turn Cost: 0
Combat/Support: 2/0, 0/0 injured

Valid: During the turn when this ninja is moved to your Chakra area by the effect of Growth, every Itachi Uchiha ninja in your hand gets -2 entrance cost.

Interestingly enough, we have the only iteration of Sasuke that is a Ninja academy student, featuring his younger self as it were. This one could be of some use in a real Itachi dedicated deck.

While Sasuke's stats leave much to be desired for the early game, his sole purpose is obviously to be growthed into a stronger Sasuke. I would recommend [Reason for the Late Arrival] as a solid target, giving you a 5/0 and an Itachi that could come out Turn 4 or sooner if you use Konohamaru. Itachis that come down quick could definitely cause problems for the opponent, as they may be dreading his arrival already if they don't run Fire ninjas or they are still waiting to draw their own Kakashis or Sasukes to deal with it. I'd say to run this Sasuke if you run at least 2 Itachis.

Sasuke Uchiha (n188)

Hello, fellow Pojo-ers. Today's card is a bit of a rarity: Sasuke as a Ninja Academy Student. His effect is perfect for an Itachi deck. When he's sent to the Chakra Area by Growth, Itachi gets -2 entrance cost. In the right deck, Itachi can hit the field at turn 2 (Hokage's Grandson + Memory of Despair + Combat in Extreme Conditions). Weapon combat attribute is good, and his stats are quite nice for an Academy student at healthy.

Sasuke [Memory of Despair] has an interesting effect for Itachi decks. It is like a Konohamaru on steroids, decreasing Itachi's entrance cost to 4 when you growth him.

He's under par as a combat ninja...2 support and no Sharingan Eye make him a weak Sasuke. His effect isn't amazing either...Jonin's Intervention with Nawaki is a much better way of getting Itachi into play sooner, and Konohamaru effects all of your Jonin+, not just Itachi.

Honestly you're better off running Analysis of Competence. Even if you drop this Sasuke early in the game and lower Itachi's entrance cost, its weak stats and lack of protection attribute (Sharingan Eye) make him a bad early game ninja to rely on.

In limited, he's a turn 0 with combat, which is nice to see. On the offchance you get Itachi, the effect is great, though it will be tough to find both Sasukes before turn 4 when his effect is useful.

Sasuke Uchiha
Leaf/Ninja Academy Student/Male
Element: Fire
Combat Attribute: Weapon
Entrance Cost: 0
Effect: Memory of Despair
Effect Text:   Valid: During the turn that this Ninja is moved to your chakra area by the effect of "growth,"
every "Itachi Uchiha" in your hand gets -2 entrance cost.
Power: 2/0 Healthy, 0/0 Injured
Hey everybody, SmittySensei here to review a very "selective", if you will, version of Sasuke.
My first impression of this card is that it's very, very limited, and I really can't see this card getting much play in the future. Sure, Sasuke helps get his older brother Itachi out early to start his incredible awesomeness, but the sacrifice it takes to make the effect work just isn't worth it. To start things off, this Sasuke is a 0 drop with 2 attack, which is low considering that his effect doesn't really make up for the lack of power. The second thing that puts me off is the fact that he must be growthed for his effect to work. Getting the required Sasukes and Itachi in your hand at that point in the game is very limited. I truly don't think this card is practical enough to run, unless of course you're making a fun deck based around the Uchiha brothers.
A closing thought on my rather quick review, he's not completely bad in limited, but he's far from the best.

This Sasuke really failed to impress me much, but maybe you'll like it. My personal opinion is that there are much better Sasukes out there.
Thanks for reading, sorry for the quick review!

Sasuke Uchiha, Memory of Despair

Turn 0
*omg SASUKE!* /sigh

Not worth a 0 slot
2/0 , 0/0
bad effect

Sasuke, Sasuke, Sasuke. This one doesn't compare to the others. Run Sasuke Uchiha [Analysis of Competence] over this guy. The only way this could be useful is if you run mono fire, and growth it with a Sasuke Uchiha [Beyond the Limits] to eventually play a free Chidori, and get out Itachi that turn. That's a lot of cards being needed to get out Itachi fast.

Art: 1/5, doesn't amaze me
Combat/Support/Injured: 1/5
Effect: 1/5

Overall: Don't run this.

Sasuke Uchiha (Memory of Despair)

Today’s card is plain pitiful for a number of reasons. It’s the lowest stats of any Sasuke to date. I would love to see someone run this over AoC. His effect is also almost completely useless. Unless your opponent has no early game, their going to have something with higher combat that MoD and unless your going to give up a bunch of early game battle rewards, your going to be forced to chump him making his effect useless. Itachi is turn 6. On turn 1 (the earliest turn you can growth him, and probably the latest turn he’ll be alive) you growth him and get Itachi down to a turn 4, not good enough. Even with a Konahamaru HG, Itachi is still two turns away from one.

If you really want to get Itachi out uber early, run 3 Nawaki, 3 Rock Lee RtG, and 3 Jonin’s intervention. The afore mentioned combo with MoD is clearly impossible and incredibly unlikely (you need 4 DIFFERENT ninjas, not 2 MoDs since MoD doesn’t have growth, another downfall).

MoD fails on all accounts. Any combo with him is incredibly unfeasible due to his downfalls (crappy stats and no growth), and on top of that, I can’t see anyone taking an AoC out of their deck to play this guy.

Constructed: 1.5/5
Limited: 3/5 (Sadly one of the strongest zero drops in DL)
Art: 2/5 (A happy Sasuke running towards his murdered clan)

m kk nnk

the best case with this card is getting itachi out on turn 2. here is the combo. Sasuke + hokages gson + naruto legacy = turn 2 cost. I like jonins intervention better. Itachi can be totally obliterated  by jutsu or a freedori deck.
