Jiraiya: Pervy Sage

This guy is a powerhouse for Lightning, and the Oil element lets him combo with his frogs. If you have a Konohamaru (who is lightning, btw) and your opponent has a Kurenai (not too unlikely), you can have a guy with a power of 7 healthy 6 injured out on turn four. If not, you'll be able to get him out at the latest by turn 6, so just try to chump block until then. He can also use sannin jutsu, although you might be better off with the First or Second Hokage.

Oil+Strong+poss. early deployment+good support if you're rich= a pretty good ninja, considering we don't have many Jiraiyas.

Constructed: 3.8/5
Limited: 4/5, especially if you can pull some support

Jiraiya [Pervy Sage]
Leaf/Male/Sannin/Lightning
Turn Cost 6, Hand Cost 1
Combat/Support: 7/2, 6/2 injured

Effect: While this ninja is in your hand and your opponent's village contains a Female Ninja that is not Genin, this gets -1 entrance cost.

Sorry for the lack of a review yesterday, but I have midterms going on right now, so Naruto must take a backseat sometimes lol.

Today's card is one of the two current versions of Jiraiya that exist, both from Curse of the Sand. Jiraiya is definitely a beefy ninja, keeping a solid 6 power even when injured. Being a Sannin lets him use pretty much any jutsu, especially the Satoosa/Sannin only ones from Revenge and Rebirth. The effect could come in handy, but is quite specific. Off the top of my head, Kurenai, Hisame, Anko, Suzume, and eventually Tsunade are the possibilities for the effect to work with. While it is situational, possibly getting a Turn 5 Jiraiya out could be quite useful. In my opinion, though, it is better to use Releasing the Seal Jiraiya, as it can help give growth coins to your ninjas, better than just getting out a turn sooner. SR status makes this one a tough sale, too.

Constructed: 3.5/5

Limited: 4/5: not many targets for his effect, but is real strong and a SR so worth some $$$

Tuesday's card is Jiraiya, Pervy Sage, the biggest ninja Lightning has beside the Nine-Tailed Fox and Kakashi and Might Guy(Fire/Lightning so they count as both). Jiraiya comes in at Turn 6 as a 7/2 and stays big as a 6/2 when injured. He also has the Oil attribute for using Summoning Jutsu. Being a Sannin, he can use any Jutsu that uses level instead of something specific to a character. His effect is one you may not see often. So far, the only ninjas that are female and non-Genin are Moegi(Ninja Academy Student, not Genin), Anko(Special Jonin) and Kurenai(Jonin). Considering what your opponent would be running, you may not get the effect off when you would like to, although the chance to play a Sannin before turn 6 is always good. Jiraiya is great to run, especially in a summoning deck, that is if you can pull him.

Limited: 3.5/5(basically he's more raw power, but good luck pulling him)
Constructed:3.5/5(Jiraiya is a tough nut to crack statwise, especially in a deck abusing Oil)

Beastly Mage

Hey guys, Beastly Mage here. Today's card is another fan favorite, the Pervy Sage himself, Jiraiya. Now, there's plenty of Female Ninjas out there that could actually speed this guy's entry to the village. Kurenai, Hisame, and Suzume come to mind. Combo this guy with Konohamaru [Hokage's Grandson] and he can enter in turn 4. Whoa! Still, he doesn't have another effect, but he does have a pretty high combat level both in healthy and injured status. In a Lightning deck, this guy's priceless.

Akira

N-101 Jiraiya (Element: Lightning)
Entrance Cost: 6 | Hand Cost: 1
Leaf | Sannin | Male
[PERVY SAGE]
While this Ninja is in your hand and your opponent's
village has a "female" ninja that is not "genin", this ninja
gets -1 Entrance Cost.
Healthy Stats: 7/2 | Injured Stats: 6/2 | Attribute: Oil

In my opinion, this is the better version of Jiraiya. His ability allows him to reduce his entrance cost by 1 if your opponent has a non-genin "female" ninja in play. Hisame and Tayuya come to mind immediately but when Dream Legacy is released, Shizune and the new Anbu (although I'm not positive if it will have the "female" attribute,) will increase the opportunities for Jiraiya's effect to go off. Moegi, disturbingly, will also cause Jiraiya to come running faster as well...

With Konohamaru and Combat in Extreme Conditions, Jiraiya can hit the field on turn 3. Although it requires a lot of luck to get this to work...

He's also got the rare "Oil" combat attribute, which is nice if you want to build a Gama deck.

Jiraiya is big, and can come into play a few turns earlier than most Sannin, but unfortunately Lightning is one of the least supported elements in the game right now which hurts his playability. He's great for a fun deck though.

In limited, he's a super rare, which makes him the obvious pick, but he's also an awesome 7/2 with Sannin and great injured stats. I'd grab him even if he wasn't all gold and foily.

Constructed: 3/5
Limited: 4/5
Art: 3/5
