The Pokemon Mall Tour Visits Chicago - April 1999

April 17, 1999 ... and The PoJo was there ... Digital Camera in hand.

There were a lot of people, and also a lot of cool displays.  

All the women in Red Shirts are actually models hired by Wizards of the Coast to look good, act polite, and try to keep you happy.  Most know absolutely nothing of Pokemon.  The guys in the yellow shirts are the WOTC "know it alls".    So if you go, and have a question ... seek out the guys the same color as Pikachu.
Wizards had planned a cool thing .. Allowing kids to get their photograph taken with a Giant Pikachu card.  They even take the picture with a Polaroid camera, at no cost to you.    But .. the demand is just too high.  You had to be there well in advance and wait in a LOOOONGG line.   If you were lucky, you were given a timecard on when you could get your photo taken.  There was maybe a 1/2 hour window (11:00 to 11:30) to get a timecard).   If you want a free picture, get there 1 hour early.

Or you can sweet talk a model in red, grease her palms with some extra green, and sneak one of your own kids in for a photo with your own camera.  You have to really practice your sad face if you plan this one.     ;)

I don't have any photos of this, but many ... many. ... people brought their Gameboys to trade Pokemon, and to Fight each other.  The Officials by the car (in the blue collar shirts on the left) actually had their gameboys, and were prepared to take on all comers.  Bring your link cable, and kick some booty.
