Welcome to the first issue of the Dragon Ball Z TCG Official Newsletter. This newsletter will equip you with the tools and the knowledge to enter the world of the new Dragon Ball Z Trading Card Game (TCG). Look for news about the trading card game, the DBZ anime, upcoming tournaments, prizes, giveaways, and more.

New DBZ TCG to Launch July 2005

Are you all set for the new Dragon Ball Z TCG? Get ready because there are only a few weeks until it hits stores. Based off the recently released uncut DVDs from FUNimation, the new DBZ TCG features an all new game engine recognized from the highly popular original DBZ Collectible Card Game with a few player-friendly adjustments to streamline the game play.

Namekian Is Back!

You have been asking and now you know! The Namekian fighting style is back! The Nameks have a role in the show, so we're bringing them back. For those who don't know, with the Namekian style you can regenerate from damage and "Power Up," which will not only give you that early punch, but staying power to finish your opponent off.

New Cards vs. Old Cards

Just so you know, new DBZ TCG cards will be compatible with any of the old Dragon Ball Z/GT cards due to their similar terms and play styles. Score Entertainment is releasing a rulings document outlining all the compatibility guidelines for the new and old DBZ/GT cards. However, please note Score Entertainment will not support the use of old DBZ cards at any sanctioned tournaments, .

Demo Tournaments

Want to see the new cards and learn to play the new DBZ TCG? Now's a good time to start.

Score Entertainment will hold free demo tournaments at Origins, June 30 - July 3 in Columbus, OH and Anime Expo, July 1 - July 4 in Anaheim, CA. Demo players not only get to be the first to play the new DBZ TCG, top demo players win $250 cash without worrying about complex deck building or entry fees.

Compete in DBZ demo tournament during the following conventions:

June 30 - July 3 Origins ( Columbus, OH)

  • DBZ Demo Tournaments: Thursday at 12 p.m., Friday at 12 p.m. & 7 p.m., and Saturday at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. & 6 p.m.
  • Winners will receive $500 in cash prizes - 1 st place: $250, 2 nd place: $150, 3 rd and 4 th place: $50.

July 1 - 4 Anime Expo ( Anaheim, CA)

  • DBZ Demo Tournaments: Friday at 12 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.
  • Winners will receive $500 in cash prizes - 1 st place: $250, 2 nd place: $150, 3 rd and 4 th place: $50.

Premier Event

Get ready for in-store tournaments, beginning in August, in a city near you. Be there to battle against other Dragon Ball Z TCG players to sharpen your skills and win cool prizes. To find a list of local events and show everyone who's boss, check out www.dbzcardgame.com.

Now you're ready to show your guns at the Regional and Premier Tournaments and start down your road to the 2006 World Championships. Regional Tournaments are high-level tournaments and held throughout the year. Winners receive cash and prizes from Score Entertainment with Score Entertainment present only in the tournament room. At Premier Tournaments, winners receive elevated prizes, product, and money. You can come by and visit the rest of the crew at our booth.

In addition to cash and prizes, at Regional and Premier Tournaments all players will receive Universal SEVEN Points (USP). USP are awarded to players for each round of play that he participates in. The player with the most points accumulated in the 2006 season receives the title, ‘Dragon Ball Z Player of the Year', along with a trophy, cash, and prizes.

Think you have what it takes? Bring your best game to the World Championships, where players will compete for the title of Dragon Ball Z TCG World Champion! Prizes, cash and locations will be announced in the coming months.
