Pojo's Pokemon Card of the Day

Swampert EX - - Team Aqua

Date Reviewed: 5.07.04

Ratings & Reviews below

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating.

Jermy101 Swampert ex is usually comboed with Swampert RS(the one with the pokemon power).  His attacks are good for the cost, doing 100 damage for 5 basic energy.  His other attack can pick off the bench and the bench's energy.  Since it is fighting type it protects Swampert RS's weakness which is lightning(aka Ampharos ex).

Unlimited - I use this in my fighting/psychic deck.  The psychic pokemon I use in it is of course base gastly. 1/5

Modified - This card is ok to counter Lightning in the Swampert/Suicune ex decks that are around. 3/5

Limited - You probably won't get the Mudkips and Marshtomps. 2/5

Thundachu Swampert EX

Overview: This card has been called the Blaze ex killer. For 1 colorless energy, Hyper Pump does 20 damage plus 20 more for every basic energy attached to Swampert ex. A few backdraws being the ones used to pay for the attack don't count, and you can only add upto 80 more damage. Then for 1 water energy and 2 colorless, Crushing Wave lets you choose 1 of your opponent's Pokemon and the attack does 40 damage. Then you get to flip a coin and if it's heads, your opponent discards an energy attached to that Pokemon. With 150HP, 1 weakness of Grass is VERY nice, while a retreat of 3 is a little high. And of course ebing an ex Pokemon, if it's k0ed, your opponent gets 2 prizes, which is bad.

Unlimited: 2/5

Modified: Being able to kill Blaze ex is always a nice touch, and the high HP is also cool. I expect a few archtypes with this card to surface if they haven't already. 3/5

Draft: If you can draft all the forms(hint hint, you can't XD), then play it. But since ya can't, :( I have to give it the old N/A.
