Saturday, 01.25.03 - Yesterday I said that I've got some super news to post and, I tell no lie! There have been 2 new cast confirmations recently for The Prisoner of Azkaban (PoA)!
The 2 characters which have been cast are:

  • Tom, Leaky Cauldron Inkeeper!
  • Prof. Remus Lupin!

Tom will be played by comedian, Jim Tavaré which some of you may have seen on 'The Sketch Show.'

Remus Lupin will be played by Actor, David Thewlis. Thewlis has been in such films as Dragon Heart and also stars in Dinotopia.

Personally I wouldn't have considered Thewlis to be Lupin because I never imagined him to look like that in book, and as for Tom, I'm sure in The Sorceror's Stone, hagrid says:

"No thanks TOM, I'm on official Hogwarts business..."

But, as I said before, this is super news. To view all the other confirmed cast for PoA, click here! Chow for now!

So mark your calendars for June 21st, 2003. ;')

A Press Release from Scholastic, one of the book's main publishers along with Bloomsbury was made available today.

A clip from CNN.com shows a little sniplet of what is to come:

The new book begins with the words:
The hottest day of the summer so far was drawing to a close and a drowsy silence lay over the large, square houses of Privet Drive ... The only person left outside was a teenage boy who was lying flat on his back in a flowerbed outside No. 4.

Later in the novel, the statement said, Rowling writes:
Dumbledore lowered his hands and surveyed Harry through his half-moon glasses.
"It is time," he said, "for me to tell you what I should have told you five years ago, Harry. Please sit down. I am going to tell you everything."
We've gather related news on the subject for you too. Here's a clip from Yahoo News:
(Reuters) - "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the fifth tale of the boy wizard by author J.K. Rowling, will go on sale across the globe on June 21, her publishers said Wednesday. The book, which at 38 chapters and 255,000 words, will be a third longer than the last book -- "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" -- has been delivered to its English language publishers Bloomsbury of Britain and Scholastic of the United States.

Friday, 10.25.02 - (22 days!) - (22:25 UK Time) It was expected to happen and it indeed has. Richard Harris (Dumbledore), at the age of 72, has in the last hour died of cancer.

For those of you who didn't know, Harris had been diagnosed with cancer and wasn't looking at all well during the filming of COS. He had to have a double for the majority of the scenes which proved too much for the actor because of the illness. Harris had been previously staying in a London hospital for a while now, and has died "peacefully" with his family by his side no doubt.

We should indeed have a minutes silent showing respect for a great actor and the man who played our avourite HeadMaster, Richard Harris.

Monday, 9.30.02 - (7 days!) - We have a new ruling from Wizards sent in today from ProfSnape. Here's his question:

"If I have a Riding the Centaur in play, can my opponent choose to solve the adventure before he/she draws their card on their turn, in order to still be able to do damage to my deck with his/her creatures that are currently in play?"

And they responded with their answer:

"You may attempt to solve an adventure after your first draw. Since creatures deal damage after the first draw, you could draw your card, solve the adventure, and then have your creatures deal damage."

Interesting! We'll be adding this to our Rules Collection shortly, but just wanted to give yall a heads up incase you ever happened to run into a situation like this when you play. Thankies ProfSnape!

As we gather around the "Goblet of Fire" once again, we toss in all our cards from the Quidditch Cup set, and await it's decision. *POOF* The verdict is in, today's Card of the Day will be "No Time to Play." We are going to be running a different kind of theme for the next four weeks. Each week we are going to do a Goblet of Fire drawing on cards we have not reviewed in the past from each set. This week it will be from the Base set. Today's Card of the Day card came shooting out of the fire and it was Illegibilus. Our completely bias judges for this Quad-Set Tourney Of Not Reviewed Cards From The Past will be Aardvark, Enraged, Lockhart, MadEye, Snuffles, and say hello to ProfMalfoy, from our chat room, who will be this weeks guest judge (reviewer).

Friday, 9.13.02 - The Creature Coercion theme is over. However, not before we present the most "hare raising" card in the game. It is "claws down" the best card in Harry Potter to date. Wednesday, 9.11.02 - We don't want to get to caught up in the 9-11 thing today, but...PEACE TO ALL FROM US!

Lockhart graps a couple of decks, throws them up in the air, and zaps them with his wand. At this point he either forgot which spell to use or he just mech'd 2 decks for you today. Check out his Obliviation Station and find out what happened!

Crusader wasn't flying around for fun. He was trying to catch that deck before it got away. See if he caught it and got it mech'd in his Emporium.

If Fluffy had 4 heads, with 4 tongues, and was giving you puppy kisses all at the same time, you would have what sounds like today's Card of the Day. Lapifors from the Diagon Alley set will be slobbered on by Aardvark, Crusader, Enraged, Lockhart, MadEye, Snuffles, and PotterRulz.

Friday, 9.06.02 - Those wonderful toys are now being shelved...but not unitl we take a look at Colour-Changing Ink from the Diagon Alley set. The Card of the Day will be reviewed by (and read their names quick before the ink changes to black) Aardvark, Enraged, Lockhart, MadEye, Snuffles, and ProfKobe-who did a great job this week.

Thursday, 9.05.02 - "Where Did You Get Those Wonderful Toys?" In that fancy trunk, but why is it moving like that. It's moving like that cuz in there we are about to release a Bludger from the Quidditch Cup set. You can also search the page for the text "Email September 03, 2002" and that will show you all the entries that were added.

"Where Did You Get Those Wonderful Toys?" continues with Self-Stirring Cauldron from the Diagon Alley set. The Card of the Day is brought to you by your friendly neighborhood reviewers. And those nice folks just happen to be Aardvark, Enraged, Lockhart, MadEye, Snuffles, and ProfKobe.

Tuesday, 9.03.02 - This is MadEye, and I just wanted to appologize to everyone for not showing up with some goodies on Monday. I hope you can all forgive me for slacking off a day. ;o)

We have a personal view by FEND on the Book 5 predictions. Is it fact or fiction? You be the Judge. You can see his collective views in our Library's Book 5 Plots and Spoilers, at least until we can get the real stuff!

Here is a scan of the new league promo #8 from Shan Kazmi.

Time to check your deck with this weeks O.W.L. Poll Question. #9 wants to know how many lessons you stock in your favorite deck.

Slightly ripping off a Batman line, this week's theme is "Where Did You Get Those Wonderful Toys?" So, for a look at some wonderful items and their reviews, check out the Card of the Day. Reviewing these items will be Aardvark, Enraged, Lockhart, MadEye, profpoke (must have got lost and found himself reviewing cards), Snuffles, and say hello to ProfKobe from our chatroom and online league. ProfKobe will be this week's Guest Reviewer.

Friday, 8.30.02 - The last part of our Shop, Sit, Stand, Fight, and Ride theme is not a Ride in a Ford Anglia. Wednesday, 8.21.02 - Happy Birthday MadEye!

steel_claw: This may have been asked earlier, but can you tell us what has happened to the Harry Potter chats? At first the speaker doesn't show up, then the wizos stopped showing up, has it been cancelled for good?
master_trainer_mike says, "Prefect Adam is a manager in the customer service department and is a rather busy guy."
master_trainer_mike says, "I know he missed a chat or two and feels bad about it."
master_trainer_mike says, "I believe the number of people that came to those chats was rather small and it was decided that the best way to get answers about Harry Potter was to call or write to customer service instead."
articjedi: so does that mean harry potter is dying?
master_trainer_mike says, "No, it just means that Adam is a busy guy and with the smaller number of people that came to the chat, it was decided that calling or wiritng customer service was more cost effective :)"

Friday, 8.16.02 - MadEye's been meching things up again. In his Trunk he unleashed a deck all the way from Holland. "How does he do that?" It is called Catch the Match Deck. Take a peek.

It's Hover Charm and is from the newest expansion "The Chamber of Secrets" due out in October (per WOTC staff). I attempted to quiz the staff more on when exactly the Chamber of Secrets WOTC store tournament would be, but they said they didn't know. Pretty much wizards HQ ships them the stuff (booster pack prizes) for the release with a note stating that when the store gets the shipment, have the release tournament the next time the league plays. We found some old news from The Leaky Cauldron that might explain the delay of Adventures at Hogwarts to some people in the US. According to the Seattle-Post, Wizards was having some sort of law suit dealing with the Diagon Alley set. One of our regulars in our chat room, Dragonstar975, stated that when he called Wizards last week asking when the Adventures at Hogwarts set is coming out in the US, they told him it might be delayed due to some "legalities." Probably nothing wrong with Adventures at Hogwarts itself, but they might just be taking extra precautions to make sure it doesn't happen again. ;')

In the USA, the new set will be out on the 14th. Thursday, 6.06.02 - Many of you may have noticed that it seems hard to get your hands on some of those new AaH cards. We were wondering the same thing as well. It appears that Wizards' web editor person made a typo on the date June 4th. I've checked other online places and all that had a date had "14th" of June, and WotC themselves didn't even have the cards in their stores. Looks like we gota wait another week for this thing. =(

SO if you have some cards from the new set and want to help out, go to that link and post the information from your cards that we do not have posted yet. Try to make your information as complete as the first one is please. THANKS!

Greg Hodgkinson found out today that the "promo" card for the upcoming Adventures at Hogwarts Game Day Tourney will be a holographic "Meeting Fluffy". Both the "launch" and the symbol are in the promo "gold" lettering. We will be looking forward to a scan of this one. Greg would like to thank Brian Wensus for getting him this great information!

The HP DVD has sold really well, but how do you decide which version to buy? Fermat found this site by Richard Sliwa that explains a little bit about Super 35 films and thought that this information would be useful. We agree! The pictures of what you can and can't see were really amazing. You may end up buying a copy of both widescreen and full frame after seeing this! BTW, LOTR is supposed to be shot in the same format. Thanks Fermat!
