Knight of Refinement, Benizel
- #G-BT02/010EN

Date Reviewed: May 21, 2015

[AUTO] Generation Break 1 (This ability is active if you have one or more face up G units in total on your (VC) or G zone):[Counter Blast (1) & Soul Blast (1)] When this card is placed on (RC), if you have a grade 3 or greater vanguard with "Altmile" in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, search your deck for up to one grade 2 card not named "Knight of Refinement, Benizel", call it to (RC), shuffle your deck, and that unit and this unit get [Power]+2000 until end of turn.

Benizel here is Altmile support. When called, as a Generation Break ability, you CB1 and SB1 to call a Grade 2 from the deck that isn't another Benizel, and it gains 2k power until end of turn.

Well, I guess he's okay for grabbing attackers, but as I mentioned in my Knight of Twin Sword review, G Royals isn't exactly starving for those anyway; every deck should have more Grade 2s and 3s combined than Grade 1s (that you want to boost with, we usually don't count Sentinel units). Not to mention 3 cards going to the hand every turn once Grade 3 happens. At least he's stronger, if a bit delayed, compared to Starlight Violinist.

On call-beaters like him shouldn't be held back if you absolutely need the offense though. Benizel's skill isn't so good he's worth holding back. Apart from that he's pretty ordinary.

So, we have Altmile support.

Well, I suppose every leader needs support, even Alfred needs support from his allies to reach full power.

Though, tbh, this really seems like a bit of a waste of space in any Royal Paladin deck.  Just for the G-era Royals alone, you have the GBCBX unit that came in the Trial deck that does the same thing, but doesn't need a specific grade 3 to work, and Starlight Violinist might have only 8000 power, but at least Violinist doesn't need to wait for GB1 to do anything.  And then there's Swordmy, which is being called Cancer Cat by some members on the forums...

While Benizel fancies himself as the 2nd main character in an Altmile deck, the sad truth of the matter is that he's, at beast, 4th string.

Sorry, Benizel, you're pretty much "too little, too late" for the deck.
