Yu-Gi-Oh Structure Deck: Legend of the Crystal Beasts – What You Should Know

So what is really over the rainbow? Hello Pojo Readers, Crunch$G here to tell you what you should know about the latest Structure Deck, Legend of the Crystal Beasts. If the name didn’t make it obvious, this Deck does support the Crystal Beast archetype with several new support cards while also reprinting key cards for the archetype and other staples to help boost your strategy. Overall, Crystal Beasts got 7 brand new cards in this Deck alongside 3 Tokens for you to use. It’s a lot of Spell/Trap support mainly, with only one new monster, so let’s see how these new cards boost the archetype.

Complete the Rainbow

Overall, with Tokens and support cards, this Deck gives us a grand total of 10 brand new cards. We of course got the three Tokens, one of which is Jesse and Ruby Carbuncle, another with Jesse and all the Crystal Beasts, and then a standard Crystal Beast Token with all the gem forms of each Crystal Beast. As for the support cards, Ultimate Crystal Rainbow Dragon Overdrive is a Level 12 LIGHT Dragon Fusion that needs an Ultimate Crystal monster and 7 Crystal Beast monsters to summon and must be Special Summoned during the Duel where you summoned an Ultimate Crystal monster by banishing the Fusion Materials from your field and/or graveyard, gains 7000 ATK while 7 or more Crystal Beasts with different names are banished, and it has a Quick Effect if it hasn’t battled this turn to tribute itself to shuffle all cards on the field into the Deck and then lets you summon any number of your banished Crystal Beast monsters. Awakening of the Crystal Ultimates is a Quick-Play Spell that lets you reveal an Ultimate Crystal monster in your hand to use one of two effects, or you can use both in sequence if you control an Ultimate Crystal monster, where you can take a Rainbow Bridge card or a Rainbow Refractiton and either add it to your hand or send it to the graveyard, and the other effect lets you Special Summon a Crystal Beast monster from your hand, Deck, graveyard, or Spell/Trap Zone. Crystal Aegis is a Normal Spell that lets you destroy a Crystal Beast monster you control to summon a Crystal Beast Token with the same Attribute, Type, Level, ATK, and DEF as the destroyed monster, also you can banish this card from the graveyard if a Crystal Beast monster(s) is placed in your Spell/Trap Zone, even during the Damage Step, to Special Summon a Crystal Beast from your Spell/Trap Zone. Rainbow Bridge of the Heart is a Continuous Spell that lets you Normal Summon a Crystal Beast monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set during your Main Phase, can let you destroy a Crystal Beast monster you control or in your hand to add a Crystal Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand, and if a Crystal Beast monster is placed in your Spell/Trap Zone, even during the Damage Step, you can target a monster the opponent controls to return both it and this card to the hand. Crystal Boon is a Normal Trap that can let you Special Summon up to 2 Crystal Beast monsters from your Spell/Trap Zone, and if you do, you gain LP equal to their combined original ATK, also you can banish this card from the graveyard if a Crystal Beast monster is placed in the Spell/Trap Zone, even during the Damage Step, to excavate the top card of your Deck, and if it’s a Crystal Beast monster, you can either add it to your hand or Special Summon it, otherwise it’s sent to the graveyard. Crystal Miracle is a Counter Trap where when a Spell/Trap Card or monster effect is activated, you destroy 1 Crystal Beast card you control to negate the activation and destroy that card, also you can banish this card from the graveyard if a Crystal Beast monster is placed in the Spell/Trap Zone, even during the Damage Step, to place a Crystal Beast monster from your hand, Deck, or graveyard in your Spell/Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell. Finally, Crystal Brilliance is a Continuous Trap that you can only control 1 of, has each Crystal Beast monster you control gain ATK equal to its original DEF, and you can send this face-up card to the graveyard if a Crystal Beast monster is placed in the Spell/Trap Zone, even during the Damage Step, to Special Summon a Crystal Beast monster from your hand or graveyard, also any damage you take that turn is halved.

Noteworthy Reprints

Now that we got through the new cards, we got to go over the reprints. Of course, you get most of the Crystal Beast archetype in here as we got reprints for Ruby Carbuncle, Amethyst Cat, Emerald Tortoise, Topaz Tiger, Amber Mammoth, Cobalt Eagle, Sapphire Pegasus, Rainbow Dark Dragon, Crystal Master, Crystal Keeper, Ancient City – Rainbow Ruins, Rainbow Bridge, Crystal Beacon, Crystal Blessing, Crystal Abundance, Crystal Promise, Crystal Tree, Crystal Release, Rare Value, Rainbow Refraction, Advanced Dark, Crystal Pair, Crystal Conclave, Ultimate Crystal Magic, Counter Gem, Rainbow Dragon, Rainbow Overdragon, Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon, and Crystal Bond. Then, we get to the reprints outside of the archetype, as we have Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder, Dimension Shifter, Contact “C”, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, The Melody of Awakening Dragon, Foolish Burial Goods, Cosmic Cyclone, Ferret Flames, and Metaverse in here.

In Conclusion

Overall, the support for Crystal Beasts is kinda nice. The new Fusion can help you finish the game off and the Spells and Traps are all decent. It doesn’t really fix the issue of the archetype, since the Spells and Traps were always pretty good in the archetype, it’s just the Crystal Beasts themselves weren’t all that great besides Sapphire Pegasus and Ruby Carbuncle, though the later addition of Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon is nice. The reprints, however, are great, since besides basically the whole Crystal Beast archetype, you get some great staples like Dimension Shifter, Contact “C”, Ash Blossom, Ghost Belle, and Cosmic Cyclone just to name a few. If anything, the Structure Deck is worth it for the reprints alone, but Crystal Beast fans should enjoy the new support.
