Hello Pojo Fans,
Another day, another Spell card we cover that encompasses two archetype.
Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light is a Quick-Play rather than a Normal Spell like Thunder of Judgment yesterday. Revolving around Magistus and Witchcrafter, you can use either of these two effects once per turn, so the benefits of yesterday’s card pertain to today as well.
Foolish Burial or Foolish Burial Goods for Magistus or Witchcrafter, or, Special Summon of a Magistus or Witchcrafter from the hand or Deck in response to your opponent doing something. The Special Summon effect we went through yesterday, it being good in either archetype. Magistus get an extra monster on the field to equip to another Magistus monster, or provided the material for Extra Deck shenanigans. While in Witchcrafter, the archetype has several monsters that can tribute themselves as a Quick Effect to Special Summon a Witchcrafter. While only Special Summoning a Magistus or Witchcrafter from hand or Deck in response to your opponent will not counter their move, it does help you to maintain control of the board.
The Foolish Burial or Foolish Burial Goods effect works best in Witchcrafter. Many of their Spells have effect(s) the need them to be in the grave, as do their monsters have banish effects as well. In Magistus, Rilliona, the Magistus of Verre, as well as Spoon, the Seal of Magistus have Graveyard effects when banished. As a Foolish Burial Goods in the Magistus archetype though, Magistus Vritra is the only Spell/Trap that can use a grave ability.
More beneficial to Witchcrafter than Magistus, but only in the aspect that their monsters do more in the grave than Magistus do. Sure, you can Foolish Burial a Magistus to set up another Magistus, but if Magistus want to use this I’d say respond to an opponent’s move with the Special Summon ability. Nothing wrong with chaining this in the End Phase when a card does something for them, you get a free body from hand or Deck without any likely interference.

Next up is a second Magistus Spell to tie in with another archetype in the lore: Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light.
Verre Magic is a Quick-Play Spell that’s always treated as a Magistus and Witchcrafter card, which I’m sure Witchcrafters appreciate having more Spells. Another case of two effects with each being a HOPT. The first effect can be activated if you control a Magistus or Witchcrafter monster, letting you then send a Spellcaster monster or any Spell from the Deck to the grave. Pretty good with some of the Magistus monsters that have graveyard effects, and especially with all the Level 1-4 Witchcrafters having their own grave effects. You can also of course put Witchcrafter Spells into the graveyard to add back at the end of the turn. The other effect can be activated when the opponent activates a card or effect, letting you Special Summon a Magistus or Witchcrafter monster from the hand or Deck, which can be great if the opponent interacts with your plays, letting you get a monster out of the Deck to potentially make a better end board than what you were previously going to do, or you can use it on the opponent’s turn when they begin to make plays to get Haine or Madame Verre out of the Deck. It’s a better Spell than yesterday, I can actually see a few Magistus cards in a Witchcrafter Deck, or it’s fine pure for either strategy. It’s highly searchable as well, so you don’t need to max on it, but 1-2 is fine for either archetype.

It’s Witchcrafter’s turn for a crossover card with the Quick-Play Spell, Verre Magic – Lacrima of Light (no, it has nothing to do with Fiendsmith). As its name and art suggest, it’s considered both a Magistus and Witchcrafter card, so as usual Rilliona, the Magistus of Verre can search it alongside Witchcrafter Patronus, plus any cards that happen to access those 2. Again, we have a choice between 2 hard once per turn effects. The first can only be used if you control a Magistus or Witchcrafter monster, letting you send ANY Spellcaster monster or Spell card from your deck to the Graveyard. On paper, this sounds ridiculous, and for both Magistus and Witchcrafter it is indeed pretty strong! For Witchcrafter, this’ll let you send your low-level Witchcrafter monsters to the Graveyard to use their banish effects, or send a Spell to recycle with Witchcrafter Potterie or to copy with Witchcrafter Genni. With Magistus, it’s a bit more tricky; the most obvious synergy is to combo it with Magia Magic – Thunder of Judgment for a roundabout way to summon basically any Spellcaster from your deck. Relying on Magia Magic is not a great idea though, so if you’re using Verre Magic as a combo piece, you’re better off just sending a Magistus monster to revive later with Magistus Vritra. Having to control a Magistus or Witchcrafter monster first does kind of sting, but fortunately, Verre Magic has another effect, which can be used when your opponent activates a card or effect to Special Summon any Witchcrafter or Magistus monster from your hand or deck. While it being reactive does stink, it’s an extremely easy way to field Witchcrafter Madame Verre or summon Crowley to go into your disruptive Fusion monsters. While it doesn’t really have a place in Dracotail hybrids, Verre Magic is still a very helpful card in both Magistus and Witchcrafter thanks to its combo potential. I hate punching down on Magia Magic, but not needing to sack a body is great! I’ve seen builds run 3, which makes sense since you can always bring out a body in a pinch.
+Amazing combo potential in Witchcrafter and Magistus due to dumping any Spellcaster or Spell
+Fairly accessible through Rilliona
-Has to be weaved into combos for its full potential
-Reactive summoning is awkward as disruption
