Believe it or not, Vedalken Orrery was the first card to grant all your spells flash on a continuous basis. That made it quite in demand – although the effect is very straightforward, there were already lots of cards that either had powerful impacts balanced by being sorcery speed, or that could simply surprise people when played at the “wrong” time. Casual players got mileage out of casting Wrath of God in mid-combat, which fits in both of those categories. Nowadays, there are several variants with other bonuses, particularly in blue and green (and I suspect white will get its own at some point), but the Orrery still has a niche for Commander decks that don’t have access to those, and there may be times when being an artifact will be a point in its favor.

Leyline of Anticipation has long been a popular card for being able to cheat a bit on timing windows, but it actually isn’t the first version of the effect. Vedalken Orrery from Fifth Dawn was the initial pass of this, giving any color combination the ability to sit back and play things whenever. It’s a weird sort of card in that it working might not be immediately apparent, but it can help with being able to protect threats and present them when opponents least expect them. The trade-off of it being a colorless artifact is that you’ll have to cast this most times, and it really only starts to shine when you can untap with it. It’s rarely ever a bad card, but it’s generally outdone in Constructed formats by the version of the effect that comes in for free.

Constructed: 3 (it can work, but I’d just run Leyline of Anticipation)
Casual: 4.75
Limited: 3
Multiplayer: 4
Commander [EDH]: 4.5
