The YCS Arrives in Utah for the First Time Ever – YGO Press Release

Weekend’s Events Include Dragon Duel Tournament for Younger Players 

El Segundo, Calif. (March 20, 2018) – It’s time to Duel in Utah! For the first time in Dueling history, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) is coming to Salt Lake City!  The Salt Palace Convention Center will play host to hundreds of world class Championship-level Duels on March 24 and 25, courtesy of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI). Utah has been a Dueling hub on the grow for many years, and now the next Championship in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) will be contested in the Beehive State.

YCS Atlanta, YCS Bochum, Germany, and YCS San Jose, Costa Rica set the standard for current competition, and now we’re ready to write the next chapter.  With Legendary Collection Kaiba and Extreme Force Special Edition levelling the playing field, more Duelists will be prepared with the latest strategies, making innovation more important than ever.  The status quo won’t be enough with so many competitors ready to bring their best – victory will go to whomever can stay one step ahead.  Pendulum Magicians, Zefras, World Chalice, Dinosaurs, Zombies, Gem-Knights, Trickstars, Burning Abyss… the list goes on.  Anything and anyone could win!

Duelists competing in the epic YCS main event will take their shot at fame, but they’ll also have the opportunity to win an incredible spread of rewards, including the ultimate prize: the YCS Prize Card Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker!  The winner of YCS Salt Lake City will score an exclusive Ultra Rare copy, while 2nd and 3rd place finishers will win Super Rares.

After testing their nerves, their wits, and their skills over two days of Dueling, the Champion of YCS Salt Lake City will earn paid travel and accommodations to their 2018 World Championship Qualifier (WCQ). Both competitors who reach the Finals will receive exclusive YCS-branded premium Messenger Bags, and the entire Top 8 will claim high-end PlayStation®4 gaming systems.  Everyone in the Top 32 will get YCS Top Cut Game Mats featuring Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker – an exclusive prize given only to those achieving Top Cut success at a YCS – as well as World Qualifying Points, Ultimate Duelist Series Points, and invitations to their WCQ tournaments.

Pre-registration for YCS Salt Lake City will run from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.  All Duelists who pre-register and remit their valid Deck list on Friday will receive one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! branded Attribute Dice, randomly blind-bagged. Registration will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday March 24, continuing to 9:45 a.m, with Round 1 beginning promptly at 10 a.m. All Duelists will receive five booster packs of Extreme Force upon registering, and while supplies last, registrants can also get “Yugi Hair” to wear at the event.  The YCS Salt Lake City main event tournament will be played in the Constructed Advanced Format. Two Dragon Duel tournaments will be held at YCS Salt Lake City for Duelists born 2005 or later, on March 24 and 25. These Saturday and Sunday tournaments will be sealed using Battle Pack: Epic Dawn, where each Duelist is given ten sealed Battle Packs to make a new Deck. .

The Dragon Duelist who finishes 1st on Saturday will Duel Sunday’s 1st place Dragon Duelist Sunday afternoon, in a best-of-3 match played with their own Constructed Decks built for Advanced Format rules.  The victor in that match will win a Dragon Duel Championship Trophy, a Super Rare set of the Darklords YCS Prize Cards and claim the title of YCS Salt Lake City Dragon Duel Champion! 

A full range of Public Events will run all weekend long, including 2018 Regional Qualifiers; Ultimate Duelist Series Qualifiers; 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling; two ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! events; Win-A-Mat, Sealed Structure Deck, Sealed Starter Deck, Battle City, Yu-Gi-Oh! Day, Yu-Gi-Oh! School Tournament Series, and Generation Duel tournaments.

YCS Salt Lake City Prizing Information:

 Players that make the Top Cut at the YCS will also be awarded World Qualifying Points based on standings.

Both Dragon Duel tournaments award invites to the 2018 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier based on attendance.
