Historically, the design differences between artifacts and enchantments have often been blurred, and in many ways they still are now. We don’t always notice, though, that the distinctions between enchantments and planeswalkers can be just as nebulous. You look at a card like this and you see three abilities with a timing restriction and exclusivity, and it’s edging towards that line. Granted, you need to trigger it with another card, but if you are able to do that, you can set up a multi-turn value chain. You don’t always have to spend mana, either, if you use cards like Jotun Grunt or Gurzigost. It might even contribute to an engine of some kind: cards like Altar of Dementia are only a step or two away from a loop when combined with the 2/2 token mode.

Teval’s Judgment is a pretty good way to consistently get more value out of your graveyard, rewarding you for playing the game by giving you more resources. As oft is the case with cards like these, each mode isn’t anything special on its own, but being able to get an extra card, an extra treasure, and/or an extra body each turn is quite good. The challenge is to be able to enable this, and black is the color that can make magic happen (with reanimator effects, dredge, and exile). I don’t think this’ll tear up Legacy, but it’s a fine bit of engine grease in more casual settings.
