If you have no monsters in your GY, you can activate this card from your hand. When your opponent activates a monster effect on the field: Negate that effect, then if you have a Trap in your GY, you can add 1 “Dominus” card from your Deck to your hand. If you activated this card from your hand, you cannot activate the effects of monsters in your hand, GY, and banishment, until the end of the next turn. You can only activate 1 “Songs of the Dominators” per turn.

Another day, another Normal Trap that can be activated in the hand.
Songs of the Dominators or SotD (not to be confused with Soul of the Duelist), is a Dominus Trap searcher, but only if you happen to have a Trap in your grave. Dominators can work like a Normal Trap, but if you have no monsters in your grave, that is when you can play it from the hand. While this may seem one-sided, it does stop you from playing a hand trap monster before this card. Standard monster negation, though it has to be on the field, so it can’t negate stuff in the grave or coming from the hand, again, decently balanced. Shotgunning this trap straight off the cuff as monster negation also makes you miss out on the Dominus card search from the Deck…you guessed it, balanced. And finally, the restriction(s) much like Impulse and Purge: No monster effects from hand, grave, or banished until the end of your next turn.
Infinite Impermanence does the monster negation without needing to jump through potential hoops with monsters not being in the grave and allows you to play your hand traps before you play Imperm. The Dominus search is alright, but only if you have a trap already in the grave. If you play a bunch of negation traps, you could Imperm the opponent, then play this and get a Dominus to your hand and have a third piece of negation ready and all you had to do was play Infinite Impermanence first. In this scenario you have negated three monsters off of two cards in hand, then searched and used one, and while you may be locked out of monster effects from hand, grave, and banished for the rest of this turn and the next one, you still can use on-field effects. Safe to say, anything revolving around the hand, grave, and banished won’t be playing this (Maliss).
With players playing less Counter Trap cards aside from Solemn Judgment, I could see this being played alongside a set of Impulse and Impermanence. You don’t even need to play a Dominus card in your Deck to play Songs of the Dominators either, it is good negation as is.

Midweek brings us a new Dominus card that isn’t a Dominus itself, but supports them: Songs of the Dominators.
Songs of the Dominators is a Normal Trap you can activate from the hand if you have no monsters in the graveyard, so turn 1 it’s live without having to be set, but you cannot activate the effects of cards in your hand, graveyard, or banishment until the end of the next turn, so it’s meant to support you not using the hand trap monsters to instead use this and other Dominus cards. Anyways, activate this when the opponent activates a monster effect on the field to negate that effect, then if you have a Trap in the graveyard you get to search for a Dominus card from your Deck, which can be Purge to stop searching from the Deck or Impulse to stop a Special Summon effect, and adding a monster effect being stopped to add on top via this is strong. The search shouldn’t be hard to pull off if you have something like Infinite Impermanence or the Dominus cards already. Also like Purge and Impulse, you can ignore the downside by just setting this card like a regular Trap. HOPT of course. Overall, it’s a solid Trap to have in the game, even if a lot of Decks might steer away from it due to the downside, but it can still have a home. Yummy is coming soon and none of their monsters activate effects in the hand, graveyard, or banishment, which is why this has seen play in the OCG in that strategy. You could lower the hand effects in Labrynth in favor of playing a select few of the monsters and adding this in for Purge/Impulse access. It’s a high cost to use it turn 1, but beyond that it’s a solid Trap to have. If your Deck won’t die by not having effects in the hand, grave, or banishment, then this is something to at least consider siding, especially if either of the Dominus cards fit into your Deck well.

The Dominus mini-series finally becomes an official archetype thanks to Songs of the Dominators, a Normal Trap that ties together Dominus Purge and Dominus Impulse. It can only be activated once per turn and shares a Hand Trap stipulation like Purge and Impulse– though in this case, you’ll only be able to activate it from your hand if you have no monsters in your Graveyard at all, so it’s practically unusable as a Hand Trap if you run monster Hand Traps like Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Songs has a single activated effect, responding to the activation of your opponent’s monster effect to negate it. As a bonus, if you have any Trap in your Graveyard (like, say Infinite Impermanence or a Dominus Trap), you’ll be able to search any Dominus card as well. This’ll all come at the cost of preventing you from activating monster effects in your hand, Graveyard, and banishment until the end of the next turn if you used it from your hand. There’s a lot to unpack with Songs, but to start off, it’s a very strong card on paper; it’s effectively a more focused version of Effect Veiler and Impermanence that can also search a Dominus Trap for even more disruption. Of course, if you use it as a Hand Trap, you’ll be under a devastating lock that prevents most decks from playing effectively. Decks that only use effects on the field are rare, and by default this prevents you from using monster Hand Traps at all, a liability when Droll & Lock Bird and Artifact Lancea are pivotal techs in this format. There’s nothing stopping you from just Setting it like an ordinary Trap, but much like with the actual Dominus cards, at that point it loses a lot of value. On the plus side, if you use either of the Dominus cards, it’ll conveniently provide a Trap in the Graveyard for their bonus effects. Neat! The best users of Songs will be decks that rely entirely or almost entirely on monster field effects for their plays, like Dinomorphia or the upcoming Yummy archetype. Naturally, Labrynth can also make use of it like a Normal Trap, as it does with the Dominus Traps. As far as usage goes, Songs hasn’t caught on; I could only find a single Argostars Odion deck playing it in the TCG, though it is seeing a bit of play in OCG lists. Still, Songs is a card to keep an eye on for the future, especially if we get more Dominus cards.

-Lock makes it almost unusable as a Hand Trap in most decks
