Hello Pojo Fans,

Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! Is our Throwback Thursday choice and is the best card in the Sky Striker archetype. Normal Spell that can be dropped first turn if you want as your RoTA for Sky Striker, or any turn as long as you don’t have a Main Monster Zone monster…the archetype has few of those and they don’t hang around for more than a few seconds. While playing this immediately is great and serves its purpose, having three or more Spells in the grave gets you a +1. This bonus, alongside the lack of a “once per turn” restriction are likely the reasons this card found itself on the ban list. Sky Striker live and die by their Spell Cards, it’s their blood. They can get three spells in the grave easily and when you are able to recycle your best draw card and play it multiple times in a turn and run multiple copies it makes for a very rough time for your opponent.

There isn’t too much that needs to be said about Mobilize – Engage!: the card is fantastic in the archetype, needed, and the archetype is almost unplayable without it. Even with one the archetype can function pretty well because of the lack of restriction on the card and the ability to search anything within the archetype and be played and cycled back multiple times in a turn.

Advanced-4.5/5 ( I save 5/5 for cards that can be played anywhere)

With tomorrow’s card supporting the archetype and this card itself recently coming from 1 to 2 and getting an alternate artwork, it’s fitting for Throwback Thursday to go to Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!

Engage is a Normal Spell that lets you add any Sky Striker card from your Deck to your hand, then you can draw a card if there are 3 or more Spells in your graveyard. The search for any Sky Striker card is pretty versatile, getting you to Raye or Roze if you need a monster, or even Hornet Drones for that matter. You can search removal with Afterburners or Jamming Waves. There’s disruption with Widow Anchor and Shark Cannon. You even got protection with Eagle Booster. Plus, there’s the cards to help your grind game with Area Zero and Multirole. There’s a ton of important pieces to the Sky Striker Deck and Engage gets you to all of them. The potential draw for just having 3 Spells in the graveyard makes this even better, since it then becomes a +1 for the archetype with no HOPT on it, so you can get a ton of advantage for however many of these you can use in a turn. Engage is one of the key pieces to the Sky Striker Deck, and will remain that way until the end of time considering it gets you to the whole archetype and can offer draw power. Easily max out on this in Sky Striker at all times, which as of this review is currently at 2.

Advanced Rating: 5/5

Art: 3/5 for the original art and 5/5 for the alternate art, Konami keeps making these alternate arts that are so good that it makes the originals feel so much worse now.

Throwback Thursday brings us perhaps one of the most polarizing cards in Yugioh history; it seems like everyone either loves to hate it or hates to love it, much like the archetype itself. Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! is a Spell Card for the Sky Striker archetype, and currently sits at semi-limited on the banlist. Engage has a single non-once per turn effect, searching any Sky Striker card if you control no monsters in your Main Monster Zones and, like the other Sky Striker Spells, has a bonus if you happen to have three or more Spells in your Graveyard (for Engage, drawing 1 card). Despite being a relatively simple ROTA, Engage has caused more than a few headaches for the Yugioh community, with it not being HOPT one of the lesser reasons. It wasn’t uncommon for Sky Striker decks to activate Engage to search itself to quickly fill your Graveyard with Engage and get the bonus draw effect when using it later. Beyond that, it’s an extremely powerful card in Sky Striker, as it grabs your main disruptions in Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor and Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon and can be constantly recycled with Sky Striker Ace – Kagari. Perhaps more infamously, Engage also provides additional copies of Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones, which can provide a quick Link 2 monster essentially for free. This made the Orcust Sky Striker hybrid deck possible, since you could easily summon a Knightmare monster then link it off into Knightmare Mermaid, kickstarting the Orcust combo. It’s not hard to see why people want Engage to be limited once more, if not outright banned, though in the current meta, seeing Engage coming back to three wouldn’t be the end of the world. Either way, Engage is still one of the most powerful archetypal ROTAs ever printed; if you’re playing Sky Striker, you play as many copies as legally possible. No debate!

Advanced: 4.5/5

Art: 3.75/5 (Original) The background is cool, though I gotta wonder what Raye’s actually doing by posing like that. 4.5/5 (Alternate) Now THIS is dynamic artwork.
