This is a fascinating card, and a design you might even call brave – doubling effects can be very dangerous in terms of format balance, even when they’re limited in some way. While the Reflections’ cost might be a little high for some tournament decks, the way they bring a heart-twin for every creature is no joke. Note that if this card creates a token copy, it will also include the mana cost, and thus increase abilities like devotion. This can get out of hand very fast.

A nifty bit of tribal support, Reflections of Littjara is a way to double one’s army (eventually). Sort of like a blue take on Doubling Season, almost. Five mana is an investment, but getting twice the creatures for each spell you cast is quite the payoff. As I seem to oft say, though, spending five mana to do nothing that turn is a massive risk in Magic, and there’s always a real risk that this does absolutely nothing before you die. But it can get an unstoppable snowball rolling far faster than you might have otherwise.

I’ll also point out that this does pair well with the Lorwyn-era Tribal cards. While there’s probably not a ton of cards worth copying, I’m always partial to a second Bitterblossom.

Constructed: 2.5 (it’s definitely a card that can make waves, but it’s slow and ponderous, and it’s definitely too slow in most deeper formats)
Casual: 3.75
Limited: 2.75 (it’ll carry its weight if you copy a bomb)
Multiplayer: 3
Commander: 3.25
