Keyword: Longship.
Ability: Once per turn, if this ship carries treasure and is within S of an enemy ship, you may randomly trade one treasure with that ship.

Can anyone explain to me why Caribbean pirates would capture a Viking longship and give it a name from India? There's something in this concept that I'm not getting. But that's hardly a first for WizKids, so let's forget reality and look at the ship.

I don't think much of longships in general. They're eggshells armed with hammers, able to dish out heavy punishment with their double cannons, but unable to take damage in return because the biggest of them has only three masts. This one has only one mast, so she's no fighter.
Her speed is okay and her cargo is good, so you could use her for gold if you don't mind paying 11 points for a S+S gold ship.

Her ability isn't a game-breaker; it's more of a nuisance, and a way to annoy an opponent who needs annoying. Of course, if you're close enough to trade a treasure, you're close enough for the enemy to shoot your lone mast off when it's his turn. The solutions to this are either (a) carry a Captain and shoot his mast(s) after you move, or (b) take advantage of a Longship's built-in Oarsman and crawl toward the safety of your nearest gunship. The trouble is that most gold ships can outrun this one, so if you want to go treasure-swapping, you'll have to add a Helmsman to the ship. The more effective you make her, the less of a bargain she becomes.

This is the lowest-priced longship you can buy. She's not a stunning example of the breed, but she doesn't stink, either. I give her average marks.

Total rating: 3 / 5
