Hello Pojo Fans,

Mementoal Tecuhtlica – Combined Creation is the boss monster of the archetype and the end of our week.

Holy Cow that stat line! 5000/5000 for a Main Deck monster is unheard of aside from “God” cards. You need five different Memento monsters either in your grave or in your hand to make this happen. There are six differently-named Memento monsters in the Main Deck, and with the speed they can go through each other with their effects, getting most, if not all of them into the graveyard shouldn’t take you too long. Once on the field, Combined Creation is meant to be a game-ending card. Attacking all monsters your opponent controls should be an OTK, just make sure you have no other Memento monsters on the field, otherwise you get only one attack with this card. The Field Spell Mementomictlan will stop your opponent from activating Spell/Trap cards until the end of the Damage Step. Battle traps like Mirror Force aren’t played much anymore, but activating certain trap effects during the battle are still a thing. If you were to lose your Combined Creation due to an opponent’s card effect, which, lets face it, that’s the only way they’re getting rid of this thing, you can use Bone Back to bring out another copy from your hand or Deck cost free. Cranium Burst can drop Combined Creation’s ATK/DEF by 1000 permanently to negate a monster effect and can be activated multiple times a turn, but only once per chain.

In response to opponent’s card effects, Combined Creation can Special Summon any Memento monster from your hand or grave during either turn. This is counter-intuitive to you attacking all monsters once each per turn with CC being the only monster on the field, but this also helps maintain field presence if your opponent were trying to out CC. Mace or Angewitch can search out CC, while Dark Blade destroys Spell/Trap cards.

Mementoal Tecuhtlica – Combined Creation is a fairly easy monster to Special Summon, given the archetypes ability to speed through itself and set it up. You could even draw into it in your opening hand going second and cycle back your whole hand to summon it. It should do some serious damage when it hits the field and while players aren’t too worried about taking damage, Combined Creation can end things the moment it hits the field and that’s what you should be going for with it.

The week ends off with what I assume is what you get when you mix all the Mementos together: Mementoal Tecuhtlica – Combined Creation.

Combined Creation is a Level 11 EARTH Wyrm with 5000 ATK and DEF. Titantic stats like this is always great, EARTH is a solid Attribute, and Wyrm has nice support. It cannot be Normal Summoned or Set and must be Special Summoned from the hand or graveyard by shuffling 5 other Memento monsters with different names from your hand and/or graveyard into the Deck/Extra Deck. It explains all the Memento monsters destroying themselves to setup plays, especially the ones putting other Memento monsters into the graveyard alongside themselves. You want to get to the 5 Memento monsters needed to summon this, and there’s more than enough names in the archetype and solid enough cards to pull this off. While you control no other monsters, this card can attack all monsters the opponent controls once each, which does make sense considering, like already mentioned, the Memento monsters usually destroy themselves. I don’t know if it would of been overpowered if it could attack all the opponent’s monsters while you still being allowed to control other monsters, but its fine. Finally, once a turn, if the opponent activates a card or effect (except in the Damage Step), you get to summon any Memento monster from your hand or graveyard. No negate on this, instead getting more field presence to setup more plays like summoning a second copy of this. This at least goes well with Memento Cranium Burst to get up to 5 monster effect negates while also forcing the opponent to battle this as long as it keeps its high stats and doesn’t go too low with said Cranium Burst, but it isn’t like this can’t just revive itself. It’s a fine boss monster, though you do kind of wish for more. The Traps, Mace, and Goblin are the only real ways to play on the opponent’s turn, and it is kind of doubtful you’ll have them all at once. The Extra Deck mention does suggest an expansion of this archetype into the Extra Deck, which will be nice once we see that. For now, the goal will always be to summon this ASAP, though this being the payoff with the other cards you need with it to be safe on the opponent’s turn is not as strong as you’d hope for a modern archetype.

Art: 5/5 I know it wasn’t a non-Effect Monster, but a missed chance to make this something like Mementotlan Five-Headed Dragon or something. Still a sick artwork for going with something unique.

We’re finally covering the big boss of Memento, the aptly-named Mementoal Tecuhtlica – Combined Creation, a level 11 EARTH Wyrm monster. While it’s technically searchable by Swordsoul Emergence, you’re much better off accessing it with your in-house Memento monsters, particularly Mementotlan Angwitch and Mementotlan Goblin. Teuchtlica’s stats back up its level, with a gargantuan 5000 attack and defense, matching the natural stats of the strongest monsters in the game. It’s not too special in the grand scheme, but I appreciate the defense being equally high.

Unless you cheat it out with Mementotlan Bone Back, Tecuhtlica is a nomi monster that can only be Special Summoned from your hand or Graveyard by shuffling 5 Memento monsters with different names from your hand or Graveyard into your deck (or Extra Deck, seemingly hinting at an Extra Deck Memento monster in the future). The summoning condition seems pretty heavy, but your bread and butter combos can pull it off easily if they go through, so it’s not so bad; being able to summon itself from the Graveyard is also great since that means Tecuhtlica can continuously revive itself, as well as summon itself when milled by Goblin. Tecuhtlica can attack all of your opponent’s monsters once each while you don’t control any other monsters, so it’s not exactly a team player (nor does it need to be, with 5000 attack). This seemingly contradicts Tecuhtlica’s last effect, a soft once per turn to Special Summon any Memento monster from your hand or Graveyard if you opponent activates a card or effect. The idea is to summon during your opponent’s turn then use the Memento jobber’s effect to destroy itself and grab follow-up, like the other Trap you didn’t search or possibly even summon a second Tecuhtlica if necessary (though that does prevent it from getting multiple attacks). Despite its odd menagerie of effects, you’re forced to summon Tecuhtlica anyway; it having no disruptions or protection on its own means you’ll be relying on Mementotlan Fracture Dance, Memento Cranium Burst, and Mementotlan Mace for disruptions, two of which require Tecuhtlica on the field. Since it revives itself, you can’t go wrong with just one copy, though if you’re paranoid of banishing, two isn’t so terrible? Tecuhtlica fortunately can shuffle itself to summon itself. Memento has some decent fundamentals, but they’ll need more help if they want to actually be remembered.

+Amazing stats
+Very easy to summon as long as you follow the combo lines
-Provides no disruption by itself and lacks protection on its own
-Effects have awkward anti-synergy
