Full Force Virus – #RA03-EN267
Tribute 1 DARK monster with 2000 or more DEF; look at your opponent’s hand, all monsters they control, and all cards they draw until the end of their 3rd turn after this card resolves, and destroy all those monsters with 1500 or less DEF.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Full Force Virus is our Throwback Thursday choice this week and a Virus card that saw some play in the meta and could again as there’s always room for this kind of a card.
Normal Trap like all the other Virus Trap Cards, Full Force Virus works the same way: tributing a DARK monster to do something to the opponent for three turns. In this case, you tribute a DARK with 2000 or more DEF to destroy all monsters the opponent has on the field and in their hand for the next three turns that have less than 1500DEF. This eliminates SO MANY monsters. Sure, you’ll likely have to tribute a big or “boss” monster of your own because of the 2000DEF tribute requirement, but 1500DEF or less is so easy to come by in the game. Most boss monsters have 1500DEF or less that are run in the Main Deck and while Link Monsters remain immune to this, as they lack a DEF stat, this can clear out so much.
Just using the current meta as an example, this clears out everything in Ryzeal Mitsurugi minus the Rituals (duh), Ext Ryzeal, Saji, and Node Ryzeal. In Maliss, only the Bystials survive. In White Forest, everything except the adult versions of Diabellstar and Diabellze, as well as Engraver if he is tech in there. Memento…RIP. Vanquish Soul do well against Full Force Virus, which may make them a deck to use it as a tech choice.
Full Force Virus remains a viable card in the current meta to use against several archetypes if you can reliably produce the DARK monster with 2000DEF. If you could, I could see someone trolling by using all the various Virus Cards in a Side Deck. That would take some dedication though. Full Force Virus will always be a good card as long as the meta is within its effect’s reach.

Throwback Thursday for this week brings us a Trap that has had utility throughout the years in some metas and can be ran with Mitsurugi potentially with some of the stronger DEF monsters: Full Force Virus.
FFV is a Normal Trap that lets you tribute a DARK monster with 2000 or more DEF to look at the opponent’s hand, all monsters they control, and every card they draw until the end of their 3rd turn after this resolves to destroy all monsters with 1500 or less DEF. In Mitsurugi, you can only really tribute Wousu or Futsu for this, but I assume we’ll get more targets and other DARK strategies will have the targets for this, or you can just run a generic one and use Triple Tactics Thrust to get to this. It’s a pretty strong card against many strategies that use monsters with low DEF to make their plays. High stats are nice, but some of the stronger monsters in the game for play making have low DEF, and even some powerful boss monsters are lacking in the DEF department. This can destroy every Maliss monster in the Main Deck and most of the Ryzeals too, plus it can be strong against Yummy since those monsters don’t pack a lot of stats themselves. It’s dependant on what you go up against and what Deck you run yourself with the targets, but FFV is still a solid card. It’s no pre-errata Crush Card Virus, but still good.

Well, Mitsurugi is full of DARK monsters to tribute, right? Full Force Virus is this week’s Throwback Thursday card, a Normal Trap part of the Virus mini-series. As it is a Normal Trap, the only decks that can reliably access it are Lair of Darkness and Labrynth. Full Force Virus has a single effect, Tributing a DARK monster with 2000 or more defense to look at your opponent’s hand, field, and all cards they draw until the end of their third turn after activation, destroying all monsters among them with 1500 or less defense. Like the other Viruses, Full Force Virus is an extremely powerful card in casual and individual settings– many decks rely on low-stat playmakers, which will usually get obliterated by Full Force Virus. Many key combo pieces for current meta decks (sans Ext Ryzeal and Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love, with their inexplicable 2000 defense) are vulnerable to Full Force Virus, like the Maliss Main Deck monsters, the Yummy monsters, and even Vanquish Soul Razen, which just barely meets the cutoff. Shutting down all of your opponent’s low-stat monsters sounds unbelievable, not to mention effectively being a monster nuke as well. Just like Crush Card Virus! And, much like Crush Card Virus, it sees sparse play in the meta. It’s not that it is a weak card if it goes off, but as I mentioned, it generally won’t hit every monster unless it’s a deck like Yummy, and you won’t be running this just to beat Yummy. Quite a lot of meta decks in the upcoming format play into Full Force Virus just fine, so I wouldn’t consider it the sleeper Mitsurugi tech of the format. It was a pretty popular tech in Labrynth though! Maybe not in the current format.
+Devastating effect that can completely shut down decks full of low-defense monsters
+Fairly accessible in Labrynth and Lair of Darkness
-Requires Tributing a DARK monster with 2000 or more defense
-Not a guaranteed victory against many decks in Justice Hunters format
