Filia Diabell – #ALIN-EN057
Add 1 Level 8 or higher “Diabell” monster from your Deck to your hand, or if only your opponent controls a monster, you can Special Summon it instead. If this card is banished: You can make all “Diabell” monsters you currently control gain 500 ATK. You can only use each effect of “Filia Diabell” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Filia Diabell is a two-in-one option for White Forest archetypes that want to make the new support monsters easier to summon.
Adding a Level 8 or higher “Diabell” monster to your hand from the Deck doesn’t search everything you’d like (like if it were Level 7 or higher), but you get to search the newest stuff and are likely Special Summoning it because your opponent will almost always have a monster on the field. Even getting just the search is honestly good enough because the two different forms of Diabellze and Diabellstar can be easily Special Summoned. Diabellze sends the materials needed to Special Summon herself to the Graveyard, while Diabellstar (her Vengeance form) banishes a Spell and Trap from on the field or in the grave. Snake-Eyes Diabellstar needs to be a Continuous Spell to be Special Summoned via its effect involving a FIRE monster in your grave.
Special Summoning either of your three targets gives you a high-powered monster on-board. Snake-Eyes Diabellstar is the strongest of the three and can move itself and a monster it battles with their respective owners Spell/Trap Zone, eliminating a troublesome monster of your opponents, while either of the forms of Diabellze or Diabellstar are buffed in their new forms: Diabellze protecting monsters you control from destruction as long as you have two or more “Diabell” monsters, in addition to the Foolish Burial of a Diabell monster or Foolish Burial Goods of a Sinful Spoils card. Diabellstar has that paying half LP effect for spot removal, but can also Special Summon a Tuner Synchro Monster if you’ve got another Diabell monster on the field (these two were friends in the past after all).
Great search card for the newer forms of Diabellze and Diabellstar. Cost-free search that can also Special Summon them when you don’t have the ability to use their Special Summon effect (or don’t want to pay). The small ATK boost it gives all Diabell monsters when it is banished isn’t really anything big. It will raise either to 3000ATK permanently which can make it the strongest on the field, but the search and potential Special Summon are more important. If only it were a Sinful Spoils cards so it would have an easier way to be searched…Thrust can still search it though.

Next up we have a new Spell to add to the Diabell lineup with Filia Diabell.
Filia Diabell is a Normal Spell that lets you add any Level 8 or higher Diabell monster from your Deck to the hand. So instantly this cuts off Diabellstar the Black Witch and Diabellze the Original Sinkeeper, leaving you with Snake-Eyes Diabellstar, Diabellstar Vengeance, and Diabellze the White Witch. The first option you don’t want in your hand really and the last is already searchable from being treated as a White Forest card, so Diabellstar Vengeance is the most likely option here for searching. You can also skip the searching and Special Summon said monster instead if only the opponent controls a monster, so it makes it better to start with potentially going second. If this card is banished, all Diabell monsters you control gain 500 ATK, making them all 3000 ATK, or 3300 in the case of Snake-Eyes Diabellstar. Considering Diabellstar Vengenace’s summoning condition, this should trigger often to make your Diabells a bit bigger and harder to get over. Each effect is a HOPT, of course. It’s a solid card, just not enough good Diabell monsters to get more value from it. At best, it’s something you search off tomorrow’s card after you send it off Diabellze the White Witch so you can have access to Diabellstar Vengeance with a Spell & Trap in grave. It’s a common 1-of in White Forest, but could get better if legacy support gives us more good Level 8+ Diabell monsters.

We already brought it up last week, but Diabellstar Vengeance makes a lot more sense when you know about today’s card, Filia Diabell, a Normal Spell that expands the Diabell mini-archetype. Weirdly enough, the only way to directly search it is Curse of Diabell, though thankfully Diabellze the White Witch can indirectly search it by sending Curse. Filia has 2 hard once per turn effects; on activation, it’ll let you search any level 8 or higher Diabell monster, but if your opponent controls a monster and you don’t, you’ll be able to directly Special Summon it instead. This can be a decent panic button when going second to summon Vengeance and potentially blow up an opponent’s card, but ironically it’s pretty bad as a combo starter since both Vengeance and White Witch will need other cards to summon themselves. For that most part, you’ll actually want to search it with Curse after sending it with White Witch, then use it to search Vengeance, which will conveniently be able to banish those 2 Diabell cards to summon itself. Filia’s other effect is comparatively pretty basic, boosting the attack of all of your Diabell monsters by 500 if it’s banished. Let’s be realistic, this effect is just a clue that you’re meant to banish it with Vengeance; White Forest generally doesn’t have much trouble pushing for OTK, but I guess it can give a little push to OTK if you really need it. Filia is an interesting card; it’s a ROTA, but you don’t want to play it at 3 since the monsters it searches need setup before you can summon them. If you choose to play it, you play it at 1 so that you can search it with Curse and easily summon Vengeance. Casual decks that focus on Diabellstar proper could run 3 though, since again, going second it’s pretty neat.
+Important combo piece for streamlining the summon of Diabellstar Vengeance
+Can quickly summon Vengeance or White Witch in a pinch
-Has to be weaved into combos to be used effectively
-Relies on your opponent controlling a monster to summon Vengeance or White Witch directly
