Dragon ball Z: Dead Zone
7.13.05 - By SuperSaiyanTrunks

Wow… it’s been along time since I wrote an article for DBZ, and I said I wasn’t going to write until the new game comes out, but the games comes out July 20th, so I decided to start things up now.

You all know I like to review moves and whatnot, so why not start with the first DBZ movie, now that it was remade?

I still remember the first time I saw Dead Zone. It was on Cartoon Network, and it became one of my favorites ever since then. Imagine how I felt when I herd it was coming out uncut & re-mastered? I’ll skip that part, just realize I was pretty excited. One   of the main reasons why it is my favorite is because it was before Goku could go Super Saiyan, before Gohan could control his powers, and when all the Z-Warriors were starting to trust Piccolo. It “kind of” has the theme that Frieza did, collect the Dragon Balls and wish for immortality. Joy… BUT! Like I said before, this was before the Super Saiyan. And Garlic Jr. wants to destroy ALL the Z-Warriors – not just Goku. (Like almost ever villain did … *coughDr.Gerocough*) Kind of weird I’d say, since Gohan was captured… just like Raditz did … and Piccolo, if you want to count him too. But as Goku trys to go and save him, it’s too late! Garlic Jr. summons the Dragon! Even with Krillin and Piccolo there, it’s not enough. Then, here comes the plot twist! Garlic Jr. opens up the “Dead Zone”.

Pretty much, Krillin is testy about Piccolo. Of course – he’s scared of him. But, when the time comes, Goku starts to use his real power… but if I quote from the DBZ site, “Well it be enough!?”

What DragonballZ.com had to say:

“Gohan has been kidnapped! To make matters worse, Garlic Jr. has been gathering the Dragonballs to wish for immortality. Only then well Garlic Jr. be able to take over the Earth in orfer to gain revenge for the death of his father.

Goku rushes to save Gohan, but arrives at the fortress just as Garlic Jr. summons the Eternal Dragon! Krillin and Piccolo try to help Goku, but their combinded powers are no match for Garlic Jr. who creates a “Dead Zone” to suck the hero’s into oblivion! Suddendly, Goku begins to show his real power, but well it be enough!?”

My final thoughts:

Really a good movie. Most “first” movies in any series aren’t all that good, but Dead Zone really is. I was only thinking about seeing it when I herd it was going to be CN that Friday, and I had to focus on school until it came on. But that was the uncut and un-mastered one. The new one just blew me away.

Cut and Un-mastered- 4/5

Uncut and Mastered- 5/5

That’s all for now. I’m going to review some more movies, so stay turned for that.
