Saiyan Desparation Blast

(Energy Attack doing 2 damage) 1: You may choose for your next attack this Combat to have a base damage of AT instead of its printed base damage. Combat – Energy

Must be Saiyan staple week because all of the cards should be used in Saiyan. That gives you a hint right away as to how this card is gonna rate. The effect is not really important. Right now one of the more successful decks doesn’t even break 3 on the AT without the help of an ally (I’m talking Raditz Saiyan of course). Thus the effect is useless unless you’ve managed to pull infinite stage with Happiness and power Vegeta or Nappa up to full. Otherwise, you will use this for the type of attack it is. It’s a 2 for 1 attack, or as Saiyan translates it, a 5 for 1 attack or 2 for 1 refocus. This card is a fine example of the type of deck Saiyan runs right now. Cheap beats is common as usually your attacks cost 1 to 2 stages to perform, so that’s a good indication of how good this card is right away. The effect can be powerful at times too, turning that cheap 2 for 1 into a beefy 4 for 1 if you’re lucky and have good allies. Run it because it’s cheap and it’s beats.

1: You may choose for your next attack this Combat to have a base damage of AT instead of its printed base damage. Combat - Energy (Damage: 2)

Yet another cheap and effective attack for Saiyan decks. The damage may seem small intially, but when you add in the Saiyan Mastery, the possibility of Vegeta ally, and the ability to have your next attack's base damage become AT, it becomes clear that there is a lot to like about Saiyan Desparation Blast. Whether or not you absolutely need to run this card really depends on whether you can take advantage a few obvious things... Yes, I'll list them anyway.

1. High AT base. Rather obvious, yes?
2. Saiyan Rush. Large modifier + 1 cost attack = good stuff 3. Err...because this card is just plain good?

The Final Verdict:

Saiyan Desparation Blast is very nice attack with a cost of only a single stage. Some decks will get more use out of it than others, but any Saiyan deck can get some use out of this card if only because 1 cost attacks are still relatively hard to come by. Use with personalities that have high power levels, or as yet another cheap attack to be boosted by Saiyan Rush. You aren't likely to be disappointed.

GDK Saiyan Desperation Blast

I have found this card to be useful in decks that like using the attack table for damage. If you pull multiples for your hand, you could use one for four damage(with the Saiyan Mastery) and the next is doing AT damage for one stage. And then the next attack you do has a base of AT damage again. This card is really only good if you have a higher power level character, though, and should only really be used as such.

4/5

Justin Cardoza Saiyan Desparation Blast

This card is definitely not bad at all. With a 1:4 damage ratio, it's certainly no pushover. In addition, when comboe'd with Saiyan Rush (Tuesday's Card) it can do a max of 7 damage for only 1 power stage. That's exactly what I meant when saying that it can make attacks that do nothing do alot of damage! (Saiyan Rush)

This card can also improve the damage ratio of a few other low-damage attacks in the Saiyan Style. It can make an attack like Saiyan Ki Charge (which does 0 damage) do "AT" damage which can sometimes be a good amount of damage. Especially when playing with a Goku LV2 Personality or even any of the LV3's out there. That's normally 7 damage plus your mastery, which is 9!

Once again this card shows how Saiyan can easily pump its attacks to the point where they do an enormous amount of damage.

Overall Rating: 3.8/5

Definitely a playable card in any Saiyan deck.

Art: 3/5

Not so good, but does look nice in foil.
