Wednesday - Korin

Alright, Question: Why did they make Korin's power level lower than
Oolong's? And even Mastery Roshi (level 1 CCPP) has a lower powre level than Oolong. I mean, come on, Korin and Roshi are both powerful martial
artists..and..oolong is a shape-shifting pig :p...ANYWAY..

Korin is pretty good, I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to power
up the printed PUR on my allies (yay, Krillin level 1 TS will gain 3
stages..and cell too :p)..Anyways..yeah..0_o, he's pretty good

Standard: 1.8

Power: Korin does not have to be in control of Combat to use this Constant Combat Power.) Constant Combat Power: During your Power Up Step, your Allies gain an amount of power stages equal to their PUR instead of 1.

Meh.

This is, in my opinion, a waste of an ally, and a waste of a rare. I mean, it's quasi-useful if you really need stages for your allies, but...I'd rather just use another energy attack ally in your deck. Hmm...or use Oolong. (Say, Pojo...why don't we review HIM instead?)

Standard: 1.5/5...you could use him for a few extra stages for your allies, but I personally would rather have a more useful ally out.

TuffEnuff: 1/5...see above.

Korin Level 1 – Buu Saga

Rare - #115

Personality

(Korin does not have to be in control of Combat to use this Constant Combat Power.) Constant Combat Power: During your Power Up Step, your Allies gain an amount of power stages equal to their PUR instead of 1.

Yay! An Ally! My specialty! Korin is uber cool! But as an ally he like… what’s the word… BITES…

Now why do I say that? If he’s a hero ally and doesn’t fit in my deck, most likely he’s either a) junk, b) focuses on a certain character, c) is my Main Personality, or d) totally physical based.

The best way to prove this would probably to get out my ally deck (my main deck for all of you who haven’t figured it out), and, with the allies in random order, spit out the PURs. Oh, and I run 19 allies, deal with it.

1 1 2 1 1 2 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 1 1 2

There are 6 allies with a PUR of 2, while the other 13 have a PUR of 1. Thus, Korin will… uh… let those 6 allies power up a whole whopping 1 more power stage during my power up step! By the way, if that impresses you, it shouldn’t. I’d rather run a better ally that does something, or even use some card to let my allies gain more stages faster than giving only a small portion of my allies just one more stage only a couple of times during the game.

I’m disappointed that it came down to this. Korin would be uber cool in my ally deck. Oolong found a home. Bee and Korin didn’t. There goes the dream of a cool character that doesn’t have a card of himself go into my deck. Now all I have to do is dream that Bulma gets a new level that works like Chi-Chi but reads “Stops an energy attack. If Kid Trunks or Vegeta is your Main Personality, Bulma can use this power even if your Main Personality is at 2 stages above zero or higher.” Either that or dream about Puar doing something like Oolong, Videl being like Breakthrough Drill, Android 16 discarding Non-Combats, Hercule stopping an energy attack, Supreme Kai doing… I’m straying off the card, aren’t I?

I’m just trying to say that good allies don’t seem to have PURs over 2 at the highest (as I see so far)… and giving +1 PUR to only certain characters isn’t good enough. If it was +1 or +PUR to all allies, that would be a tiny bit better.

Then again, look at the bright side… at least Korin has a power and can use it, unlike the various When Entering Combat ones.

Standard: 1.5 out of 5.0 (much better allies out there)

Tuff Enuff: 1.6 out of 5.0 (ditto)

Sealed: 3.5 out of 5.0 (pulling any allies, even for stages, helps sealed drastically)

Wednesday-Korin (Buu)

Look out! It`s another of the WOWCWFGPs! (WOWCWFGPs=Wave Of Wimpy Characters Who Finally Got Personalities) This guy has a ridiculous PL (Korin or Bee PA Beatdown, anyone? j/k), and a nice effect. Too bad the not being in control of combat bit proves that he won`t have other levels...I really wanted to try out that PA Beatdown...Anyways, the rest of the power is pretty nice for ally decks-an extra powerup. But what if you have allies with a PUR of 1? Korin=Useless in many situations. So I classify him as a SSW (Supreme Space Waster! :p).

Standard: 2/5
TE: 2.5/5
