Da Krillin
Monday - Krillin's Sacrifice
Keep your eyes open this week, I ended up picking the cards, and it's all
krillin cards, as it always is when I choose the COTDs for a week :).

This is a very good card in those Krillin the Great Decks. Especially if
you're facing an energy deck, or got a time is a warrior's tool earlier in
the combat with your Krillin's concentration (yay krillin cards :)). Anyway,
it's a basic phys for +4, that isn't that exciting, but then it adds +3 life
to ALL of your attacks for the remainder. And if you're at level 3 in a
well-constructed KRillin, the Great Deck, thats even MORE damage :p. Of
course, it doubles damage from physes, but so what if you've pulled a Time is A Warrior's Tool with your Krillin's Concentration, or just got lucky and drew Nappa's Physical Resistance with this card. Anyway, this is only good in one kind of deck, Krillin, the Great Energy decks :p..but so what? There are so many of those decks now..that it's an amazing card: p..if it weren't krillin only I'd give it a higher rating, (you'd think, being me I'd give it a higher rating just because it's krillin only eh? But I thought I'd be
unbiased :p)

Krillin's Sacrifice, #56 from Fusion Saga:

Power: Krillin only. Physical attack doing +4 power stages of damage. For
the remainder of Combat, all of your other attacks do +3 life cards of
damage and damage from your opponent's attacks are doubled after modifiers are applied. Remove from the game after use.

This card is probably the most suicidal card out there besides the Chiaotzu level 2 from Saiyan Saga! This card goes great in a freestyle Krillin deck; that knows what it is doing. This card has the potential to screw yourself over. If your opponent deals you heavy damage then uses some card to wipe out your discard pile (there are actually quite a few now) you are basically dead. Otherwise, this card is a physical for +4 and makes all your other attacks do +3 life; this card will mainly be used for its secondary effect. I would only advise people who are experts with Krillin Freestyle decks to use this card, otherwise you will just kill yourself. Of course this card is Krillin Only so its usage drops quite a bit. One more thing; making a Hero's Heart Is Strong a sensei deck card will really hurt krillin freestyle decks.

Ratings:

Standard - 1.5 (I haven't seen a Krillin deck used in standard in a very ...
very long time, plus this card isn't that great)

Tuff Enuff - 1.5 (this is where the freestyle Krillin decks are used; be
careful!)

Sealed Deck - 1.0 (is that a joke! First of all it is really tough to even
play krillin as a main personality in sealed deck, plus even if you used
him, why would you ever use this card, unless you wanted to lose faster!!)

Physical Combat

Krillin’s Sacrifice? What…

I don’t know if it is just me or is this card just bad? DaKrillin, I’m not sure what’s your reasoning on picking this card and saying it is good in Krillin the Great decks, because it sure isn’t…

Only Krillin can use this card, and while that doesn’t really matter too much since this card is that bad, it can be used by characters that don’t take damage. But of course you can’t do that… since it is Krillin only. And why you would take that risk is beyond me.

It starts as a decent physical attack, and the bonus of all your attacks doing +3 life for the remainder of combat isn’t shabby. The screwed up part about is having damage doubled. Why would you want to take more damage? I mean, sure, Krillin’s got to take it in order to dish it out… er, that came out wrong. I mean, without a discard pile, his level 3 is junk. But… personally I’d just rather stick around and live longer, and not take massive amounts of damage. There are better cards that you can use, in my opinion, like Unlocked Potential.

I mean, if you’ve already pulled off an all stop, it can’t be too bad. But of course if you go through that hassle just to Krillin’s Sacrifice… you might as well try making a wacky suicide Backlash deck or something.

Just… don’t use this card. Taking more damage isn’t something you should try to do. I mean, if you want to take more, just take the attacks already being thrown at you. There’s no need in creating a double edged sword when you can create one with lesser risk. The +3 life is chump change when you jump to that level 3 with a decent +10 modifier. I mean, just run Unlocked Potential and get it over with.

Well, hey, look on the bright side, at least it doesn’t kill you like Vegeta’s Sacrifice.

Standard: 1.3 out of 5.0 (don’t bother)
Tuff Enuff: 1.4 out of 5.0 (ditto)
Sealed: N/A – not going to pull Krillin… pretty much trust me on this… even if you did, don’t use this… ~matthewlow
