Demonic Tutor remains the gold standard of tutoring effects: two mana, 1 card. While tutor effects generally see intermittent play, since it’s a lot of mana to thin your deck (the floor on unconditional tutoring usually starts at 4 mana in today’s game), the sheer efficiency of Demonic Tutor makes it a lot easier to fit into any deck. It’s rightly banned in Legacy and restricted in Vintage, even with it being sorcery speed; fast mana (in the form of Dark Ritual, Lotus-related things, and the Moxen) take the tutor from “okay” to “dear god why”, and getting the most applicable card from your deck is a very good deal. If it’s legal and you’re in black, there’s little reason to not run this card.

As an aside, it got another reprint in Ultimate Masters with new, pretty art. So there is that!
