Anyone who says dolls and mannequins aren’t scary has probably never seen a doll or a mannequin. Still, you’ve got to like the ability to turn a smaller creature into a decent midrange attacker. The Puppeteer is held back a little bit by the fact that she limits you to attacking with exactly two creatures to do so – and on top of that, she’ll probably be the one targeted for blocking or removal. She does combine well with any creature whose abilities want it to attack but is otherwise fragile (see, for example, Library Larcenist), and though I’m not sure there are any red decks in constructed that really need her effect right now, it’s still relatively unique and still possibly fun to build around.

Pull some strings, watch them dance. Creepy Puppeteer is a potentially fun way to make a seemingly innocent board state a bit ruder, thanks to it making a friend share its power and toughness. If you started with a smaller body, bringing this down and attacking with both represents quite a potential buff in power and toughness, and its friend brings all its own keywords. This is probably a bit too “simple” to really make a splash in Constructed; it’s not pointless, but it really is the kind of creature that depends heavily on having an established board where you only want to attack with two creatures at a time to make the most of it. It’s cute, but not so bad.

Casual: 3.5
Limited: 4
Multiplayer: 2.5
Commander [EDH]: 2.75 (might be useful if you have weaker Commanders as your bodies, but I’m not sold just yet)

A true limited bomb that has “I was designed for limited play” written all over it.  Four mana value for a 4/3 haste isn’t great, it still puts this card within Lightning Bolt range, but the ability is what makes this card interesting.  In order to really execute this, you need the right scenario and the right creature.  Signal Pest, Ornithopter, cards that have very low to no attack/defense pair well with this card but you have to design your deck around them, something I don’t think will work in constructed formats.  It will work with 1/1 tokens but you have to ask yourself why am I in this situation to begin with?  In limited it is great!  In constructed or commander…not so much.  I can see a creature printed in five years that seems bad but when paired with this card makes an insane combo that becomes a tier level deck.

Limited: 3.5/5
Multiplayer: 2/5
Commander [EDH]: 1/5
