Cascadia – Filling out your ecosystem

What is it? Cascadia is a tile-laying game in which players compete to score the most points by creating habitats for wildlife. The game board is made up of a grid of hexagonal tiles, each of which shows a different type of terrain, such as forest, mountains, or water. Players take turns drafting tiles and placing them on the board, trying to create scoring opportunities by matching the terrain on their tiles to the terrain on the board. There are also a number of special scoring features, such as rivers, lakes, and mountains, that players can try to score points from.

Cascadia Board Game Play

How does it play? The game is played over a series of rounds. In each round, players take turns drafting tiles and placing them on the board. After all of the tiles have been placed, players score points based on the scoring features they have created. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

What I like about it – Cascadia is a simple game to learn, but it has a lot of depth. There are many different ways to score points, and the game is constantly changing as players draft and place tiles. The artwork is also beautiful, and the components are high quality.

What I don’t like about it – The game can be a bit on the long side, especially with more players. And, because it is a tile-laying game, there can be a bit of luck involved in whether or not you get the tiles you need to score points.

Every player starts the game with a 3-hexagonal tile

Overall Cascadia is a great game for fans of tile-laying games. It is easy to learn, but it has a lot of depth. The artwork is beautiful, and the components are high quality. If you are looking for a game that is simple to learn but still has a lot of replayability, Cascadia is a great choice.
