Pokemon Episode Number 11

Episode 11, Charmander The Stray Pokemon

Ash, Pikachu, Misty and Brock are still lost in the Forest.  They come

across a weakened Charmander sitting on top of a rock.  Ash tries to
catch it, but can't.  Pikachu talks to Charmander and "tells" the others
that the Charmander is waiting for its Master to come back.  They
continue on, and find a Pokemon center to spend the night as it begins
to rain.

Later, they overhear a Pokemon trainer named Damien bragging

about how he abandoned a Charmander on a rock.  After almost getting
into a fight with Damien, they rush out to rescue Charmander, who is
huddled under a leaf in the pouring rain, barely alive and able to keep
his tail flame lit.  They get him back to the Center, where he is rushed
into Intensive Care.

By the next morning, Charmander is much better and

leaves to go back to the rock to wait for Damien.  Though saddened by
Charmander's loyalty to such a callous Trainer, Ash and friends continue
on towards Vermillion City, but fall into one of Team Rocket's traps.
This time, Team Rocket is outfitted in rubber suits, so Pikachu's shocks
won't work on them.

Just when all seems lost, Charmander rescues them.

As they are congratulating Charmander and welcoming him to the team,
Damien shows up and tells Charmander that he was looking for him, while
bragging to Ash about how  leaving Charmander on the rock "toughened him
up".   For a moment Charmander hesitates about whether to go with Damien
or stay with Ash, then soundly whacks Damien (with a little help from
Pikachu!).
