Hello Pojo Fans, and Happy Boxing Day!

Bystial Dis Pater was an obvious choice and one I didn’t miss, this card was one that helped Dragon Link be tops in the meta for some time.

Dragon-centric, this Synchro boasts impressive stats for its Level 10 form. Everyone has access to Bystial Dragons and there are plenty of generic Level 4 Tuner monsters. Obviously when you think of this you’re thinking Albaz, it only makes sense, especially if you use his Super Poly ability against an opponent’s Bystial dragon. Once per turn Dis Pater can be a cost-free DDR for you, bringing back any LIGHT or DARK banished monster, even your opponents.

Interaction with your opponent only makes Dis Pater more of a boss monster. Shuffling back a banished card to destroy a monster activating an effect may not negate the effect, but it cycles back a card for you and gets rid of a card on field for your opponent. You have to cycle it back to your Deck, not the Extra Deck, not your opponent’s Deck, your Deck. You also have the option of cycling a banished card back to the opponent’s Deck to negate the effect, but they keep the monster. Destruction without negation likely will always be a debate among players, but Ghost Ogre taught us that it still holds usefulness.

Some strategies NEED monsters on the field and removing them from on the field can stall their plays, even if effect(s) aren’t negated. Destruction abilities against your card(s) makes negation without destruction a better choice with Dis Pater’s massive ATK/DEF, but watch out for those Extra Deck plays.

Bystial Dis Pater is a chaotic monster in the lore and it lives up to that. Easy to Synchro Summon, Special Summons something once per turn if you have something that is banished, and has negation or destruction power as long as you or your opponent has something banished. Most decks do banish here and there, and if you are running Dis Pater you will be banishing things so that destruction effect should always be online. Great card that anyone playing Tuners and Bystial/Dragon-Type monsters should have in the Extra Deck.

We go back to back with Synchros in the Top 10 as we reach the #4 spot, also from Cyberstorm Access, we got Bystial Dis Pater.

Dis Pater is a Level 10 DARK Dragon Synchro with 3500 ATK and DEF. Great stats and the best Type/Attribute duo in the game. Materials are any Tuner and any non-Tuner Dragon(s), so not generic, but perfect for Dragon Decks that can Synchro Summon. You could also just Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon to revive a Level 2 Tuner to summon this, or use Crimson Dragon to target a Baronne de Fleur to summon this for example. You can target a banished LIGHT or DARK monster and Special Summon it to your field, which should help extend your plays and potentially get some strong monsters. It’s great to be able to summon anything that’s banished by the effect of your standard Bystial. The second effect is a Quick Effect when the opponent activates a monster effect, letting you shuffle a banished card into the owner’s Deck to destroy the monster if the card was shuffled into your Deck, or the effect is negated if the card is shuffled into the opponent’s Deck. Pretty rewarding for getting cards banished, which a lot of Decks that will use this can either banish their own cards easily and/or their opponent’s as well. If both options are live, then you got the choice depending on what you are responding to with this effect. Dis Pater is yet another strong Level 10 Synchro to join Baronne de Fleur, Chengying, and Chaos Angel. If you can summon this via any manor, it’s certainly should take an Extra Deck slot.

Art: 4.5/5 I feel like you’d have to know this is Dogmatika Maximus, since I don’t know how you’d get that from looking at it.

My #4: Chaos Angel

Number 4 on our countdown is another repeat, bringing us Bystial Dis Pater, the final form of Dogmatika Maximus and the final boss of the Albaz lore storyline (so far). A level 10 DARK Dragon Synchro monster, it fits Dragon Link like a glove considering it requires a Tuner and any number of non-Tuner Dragon monsters, and it has even seen play as a Crimson Dragon target paired with Baronne de Fleur in Mannadium decks. Dis Pater packs an excellent 3500 for both attack and defense, giving it very impressive offensive presence.

Dis Pater’s effects aren’t too becoming of a final boss monster, but they’ve proven to be more than enough to make it a colossal pain when it’s paired with other monsters. Dis Pater’s banishing revival is excellent for extending, especially if you’re running Bystial monsters, and as follow-up, it can easily turn the duel in your favor as either free Extra Deck fodder or to push an OTK. Dis Pater’s disruption is no slouch either, being able to either negate or destroy (sadly not both) a monster, though it being purely reactive makes it a little more balanced than it could be. Still, while neither of Dis Pater’s effects are particularly broken on paper, they’re compressed into an easy-to-summon monster with excellent synergy with decks that can run it. You won’t end on Dis Pater by itself, but flanked by stronger bosses, it’ll be a perpetual nuisance to your opponent.

+Fairly easy to summon
+Provides extension, follow-up, and disruption in one card
-The destruction effect is more reliable, but reactive destruction is less valuable
-Lacks protection on its own
