Hello Pojo Fans,

Baronne de Fleur is the new boss Synchro for the Fleurs and ends our week.

Level 10 with generic materials make it optional for other decks that would like to attempt getting it out. Pop effect on any card on the field is good spot removal. One-time negation is also nice, but would’ve been better to be once per turn or once during your turn, something better than a one-time only restriction, this card isn’t going to be splashed into many decks, lets be real. Swapping this monster out for a Level 9 or lower monster in your grave normally wouldn’t happen with a Level 10 Synchro, but with the ease this archetype has with Synchro Summoning, combined with cards like Sorciere de Fleur being part of the archetype and getting you any monster your opponent has in their grave, changing out this for Sorciere in the Standby Phase is an option, but only if you were close to game-winning status and could afford to not have the pop effect on the field. You may want to swap it out for Chevalier de Fleur for that Spell/Trap negation, or if you brought it out earlier, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon for strong ATK gain and monster negation ability. There isn’t anything stopping you either from swapping out for a Level 9 or lower merely to re-summon Baronne and get back that one-time negation.

Baronne is a stronger control card than Chevalier, but to get the full benefits out of it you need your grave set up with at least one good target.

The week ends off with Chevalier de Fleur evolving into a more powerful force, and arguably one of the better cards of the year: Baronne de Fleur.

Baronne is a Level 10 WIND Warrior Synchro with 3000 ATK and 2400 DEF. Great stats still on Level 10, nothing much changes with WIND/Warrior from yesterday. This time we got a generic Synchro with any Tuner and any 1+ non-Tuner(s) summoning it, which is a massive improvement over needing Fleur Synchron. Anyways, once per turn effect to target and destroy a card on the field is simply great. It can destroy your cards, Necro Fleur, if you need, but it’s better off removing the opponent’s cards. If the next effect wasn’t a Quick Effect, I would of wished this was. Instead we get a Quick Effect to negate any card or effect and destroy said card once while this is faceup on the field. This is nice as well, and most of the time I’m sure you’d only need the one negation this provides considering you’re likely having other Synchros back this up to push for game. This is the hard once per turn effect, which is fine cause while 1 Level 10 Synchro is easy to make, getting to multiples is a different story. The final effect triggers during the Standby Phase where you can return this to the Extra Deck to revive any Level 9 or lower monster from your graveyard. Pretty good to use this after you used up the negation to get a monster back to help try to make this once again so the negation can once again be live, or just to extend into other plays in general. Baronne is easily one of the better Synchro monsters I’ve seen in a long time, and it’s easily the best Level 10 Synchro, despite competition not being that strong. If you can make this card, you play it. It’s great.

Closing the week on a big, and likely obvious note, is another Fleur Synchro.  Presenting:  Baronne De Fleur.  Level 10 this time, Wind/Warrior still, 3000/2400 isn’t bad (but this is a Level 10 with stats that don’t even quite match BEWD).  Generic Summoning requirements here simply a Tuner and 1 or more non-Tuners.  Being able to Target and destroy a card (always note Target) is a great Effect, even at Once per Turn.  Can’t be destroying everything all at once right?  Also a once while face-up, albeit Quick Effect, that lets you use once and only once, you can negate the activation and/or Effect of a card, and if you do, destroy it.  I think Once per Turn would’ve been plenty as we have cards in the pool and game that do that, and more, without being so restrictive.  Finally, still at Once per Turn, you can return this card to your Extra Deck to Special Summon a Level 9 or lower Monster from your Graveyard.  Fun enough, likely to do after you use the Effect to negate/destroy, and you can still get a large body back.  Not restricted either to Synchron or Fleur, so it’s completely open.  This card, as I mentioned earlier this week, certainly is good, but seemed to be nerfed a bit more than was necessary in my opinion.

At last, despite the week of relatively underwhelming cards, we finish off Synchro Storm with Baronne de Fleur, Sherry’s new ace monster for the Fleur Archetype. Like Chevalier de Fleur, it’s a WIND warrior synchro monster, though it’s 2 levels higher at level 10 instead of 8. Unlike Chevalier de Fleur, its materials are completely generic, requiring simply any tuner and one or more non-tuners, so Fleur Synchron or Necro Synchron are not necessary (though Necro Synchron can make this easily with White Steed of the Floral Knights). 3000 attack is slightly underwhelming for a level 10 monster, but it’s still solid. 2400 defense is also below average, but in this age, defense shouldn’t matter all that much.

There’s a lot to unpack with Baronne, the most important being why it’s such a strong card: a generic level 10 synchro monster. While not easily accessible outside of synchro decks, as the Psi-Reflector engine only goes up to level 9, a fair number of Synchro decks can run Baronne, including Speedroid, Gusto, and, most notably, the dominating Swordsoul archetype, which can make Baronne with a 1.5 card combo. The first effect is a soft once per turn; target a card on the field and destroy it. Pretty standard effect, useful for boardbreaking or getting rid of one of your own cards if it proves to be problematic. The second effect is only once while face-up on the field on a quick effect; negate any card or effect and destroy it. In this meta, an omni negate is incredibly powerful, so despite the restriction, it’s still an excellent effect going first or second. The third effect is rather random, but does tie into the second effect; during the standby phase, you can target a level 9 or lower monster in your graveyard, return Baronne to the extra deck, then special summon that monster. Clearly, the idea is to bring back Chevalier de Fleur or Fleur Synchron (or whatever you used to synchro summon it) in preparation for summoning it again on your next turn and allowing you to use its negate once again. However, you can easily use this effect to resurrect any monster you please (such as a Swordsoul Grandmaster – Chi Xiao destroyed by Swordsoul Blackout). Overall, while it’s not as splashable as some make it out to be, it’s still a very strong card that instantly improves any deck that can make level 10 synchro monsters.
