Back from the last time we had snow in Standard, Adarkar Valkyrie is a fairly interesting creature, a decent attacker with a fun reanimation ability. She can’t save herself…but if you can land the killing blow on an opponent’s creature, they come to you. Or you can save your own creatures, which can be nice in a pinch. Her mana cost is too high for Modern play these days, but she’s a potent casual format card through her combination of a potent ability and solid combat stats.

Constructed: 1.75
Casual: 4.75
Limited: 5 (extremely hard to stop from swinging, and makes it so you almost have to kill her first)
Multiplayer: 4
Commander: 4.25

Adarkar Valkyrie was one of the most impressive snow creatures during her time in Standard (Ohran Viper being the other one), but now finds herself really only in tournament contention in Modern, which isn’t really set up for her style of play. It’s a shame, really, because her ability is very interesting and stretches the boundaries of what white’s resurrection tricks can do. Once you notice that she can target opponents’ creatures, it’s hard to unsee, and tempts you to pair her with black and red spells and assemble your own army of einherjar for dominating casual tables. Besides, I hear that there are more white and/or black valkyries being released very soon . . .

Constructed: 2/5
Casual: 4/5
Limited: 5/5
Multiplayer: 4/5
Commander: 4/5
