Hello Pojo Fans,

Sky Striker gets another Link Monster and this one may be one of their better ones: Sky Striker Ace = Zero.

Needing two Sky Striker Ace monsters to summon this Link-2, you can’t summon this monster more than once per turn and it can’t be used as Link Material, so no using Ace = Zero for Kagari or anything else. 2000ATK for a Link-2 isn’t too bad, and, Ace = Zero can search a Sky Striker Spell from the Deck or from the grave and add it to the hand like Kagari. Not complaining, that is a great effect to get to Mobilize – Engage!, Hornet Drones, or Lemnisgate! (none are once per turn), or any other Spell within the archetype you want to search. Giving up a 1500ATK monster and most likely a Link Monster that can raise its ATK by 100, drop ATK by 100, or banish a face-up monster, can attack directly may not seem like the best idea, but getting to any of your Sky Striker Spell cards that you need may not be an effect you can pass up.

You can tribute Sky Striker Ace = Zero to Special Summon a Raye and Rose from the Deck and or the grave, then you can destroy a card on the field. Giving Ace = Zero the ability to avoid battle destruction or any card effect to trade for a Raye, Rose, and then destroy a card is a +2 for you at the worst. With Raye and Rose back on the field you’ve got both two monsters to attack, then trade Raye for an Extra Deck Link Sky Striker, then Rose can be used as Link Material in Main Phase 2. The Quick Effect ability of Ace = Zero opens up the ability to OTK against a cleared field when combining it with Linkage! and the two Ace monsters off the tribute.

Sky Striker Ace = Zero is another Link Monster weapon for the archetype that has found itself a seamless fit into the strategy. Retrieving a Spell that isn’t a once per turn, decent ATK, and the ability to trade itself for two monsters and one of them able to trade itself for another Link Monster in the Extra Deck enables an OTK potential for Sky Striker, but more likely, a stronger ability to finish games quickly rather than giving the opponent a turn to bounce back.

Sky Striker being the first archetype featured in the Chronicles helped since it got the archetype back in focus and 2 new cards in Duelist’s Advance (plus an OCG VJump promo we’re waiting on), and today we’ll end the week with the better of the two support cards in the set and one of the best cards Sky Striker could have asked for: Sky Striker Ace = Zero.

Zero is a Link-2 LIGHT Machine with 2000 ATK and arrows pointing Bottom Left and Bottom Right. Good ATK on a Link-2, LIGHT and Machine is a solid combination, and the materials are great. Materials are any 2 Sky Striker Ace monsters, which Hornet Drones can be with 1 card combined with Kagari, otherwise any Link plus a Raye or Roze works. She could also just be tagged into via Raye’s or Linkage’s effect since she doesn’t have a restriction where she must be Link Summoned like other Link-2 or higher Sky Strikers. You can only Special Summon her once a turn, just like every Sky Striker Ace Link, and she cannot be used as Link Material to prevent Link climbing or tagging into other Sky Striker Links. If Special Summoned, you can add a Sky Striker Spell from the Deck or graveyard to the hand, being a more immediate search than Shizuku ever was, likely searching a copy of Engage to later get anoter Sky Striker Spell you can use as disruption like Widow Anchor, Shark Cannon, or Lemnis Gate, or just go for straight removal with Afterburners or Jamming Waves. Speaking of disruption and removal, she also comes with a Quick Effect to tribute herself to summon both Sky Striker Ace – Raye and Sky Striker Ace – Roze from the Deck and/or graveyard and then destroys a card on the field, clearing her from the Extra Monster Zone after her search to get both Sky Striker gals into circulation while also destroying a card, making it a good end board piece to enter the opponent’s turn with. Only one effect a turn and only once that turn, which is fine since you’ll likely search on your turn and save her for the opponent’s turn anyways. Zero is a great card to help assist in helping Sky Striker keep up with the current metagame, assisted with Radiant Typhoon Vision being a Destiny Draw with all your Quick-Play Spells and filling your graveyard with Spells to boost your Sky Striker cards, able to be boosted more if you add a copy of MST. The Sky Striker Extra Deck is super crammed, especially as we await Camelia, Engage Zero, an Prototype, but no matter what I imagine Zero will remain a 2-3 of for what she offers to the Deck.

As for Genesys, of course she’s a Link, so can’t be played.

The last card of the week is no surprise if you saw yesterday’s card; ending the week is Sky Striker Ace = Zero, a Link 2 LIGHT Machine Link monster that is now the new boss monster for Sky Striker. It comes with bottom left and bottom right arrows, which usually won’t come up but at least they’re handy if you ever need to summon more Link monsters. It’ll take any 2 Sky Striker Ace monsters, so using Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones can actually be used for its intended purpose to field a Link 2 monster. Fortunately, that’s not strictly necessary for reasons that will be revealed shortly. Statwise, Zero comes with a lackluster 2000 attack for a boss monster, but don’t worry, we’ve got plans…

Zero can only be Special Summoned once per turn and can’t be used as Link material either, likely to discourage people from using Sky Striker Ace – Raye for weird Link climb combos. That doesn’t matter though, because the important part is that unlike most Link 2 or higher Sky Striker Link monsters, Zero actually can be cheated out by Raye, giving you an incredibly reliable (if small) endboard. Zero comes with 2 hard once per turn effects with a one per turn clause, but it’s more than justified with how powerful both of them are. The first effect triggers if it’s Special Summoned, simply letting you search any Sky Striker Spell or recycle one from your Graveyard. When you’re making Zero on turn 1, you’ll usually want to be grabbing Sky Striker Special Maneuver – Lemnisgate!, an extremely powerful card that combines disruption, recycling, and OTK power into one. Otherwise, if you’re not scared of Droll & Lock Bird, you can get greedy and search Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! or just grab Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor if you think that’ll be more helpful. Zero’s other effect is a Quick Effect, letting you Tribute it to Special Summon both Raye and Sky Striker Ace – Roze from among your deck and Graveyard, then optionally destroy a card on the field. Non-targeting destruction is always fantastic, and it’s even better on a Quick Effect! Summoning Raye and Roze sounds like a weird bonus at first, but it’s actually key for streamlining Sky Striker’s OTK lines. You can attack with Zero, tag out into Raye and Roze, attack with them, then tag Raye into Sky Striker Ace – Kagari to hopefully finish off your opponent; if not, you’ll need to use Lemnisgate or Sky Striker Mobilize – Linkage! to squeeze out the last bit of damage. It’s hard to find anything wrong with Zero, though in my personal experience it can be deceptively easy to accidentally run out of copies, since you’ll be tagging out often and Lemnisgate is your only reliable way to recycle Zero. Overall, it’s a fantastic boss monster to end Sky Striker with (for now); because of how it works, you’ll definitely want to run at least 2 copies, and if you have space, you might as well play 3!

+Versatile effects for both combos and disruption
+Streamlines OTK lines
-Only one effect per turn
-Can easily run out of copies if you’re not careful
