Ability: Schooner. This ship gets +1 to her cannon
rolls against English ships.
La Vengeance is a flexible ship with multiple
virtues. The only problem you may face is deciding
how best to use her.
With her high speed and generous cargo, she makes a
good gold runner.
With four decent cannons that become good against
the English, she can be a fighting ship as well. A
good compromise would be to give her a Captain and
send her on her way. If the enemy closes in, she
fights; if he doesn't, she gathers treasure. Just
don't do both at once, because if she goes down with
her cargo holds full, grabbing half the value of all
those coins could make your enemy even happier than
sinking the ship.
There was an actual French ship named La Vengeur,
which spent her entire career fighting the English.
I'm not sure if La Vengeance is supposed to be like
that ship or not. But she's a good one for French
admirals who can't decide if they want to win by
gold or by battle. She can do both.
