If you were hoping for a powerful Spanish fighting
ship, the new El Acorazado is a disappointment. This
ship, on the other hand, will not disappoint in any
way, shape, or form. She might be one of the best
gunships in the game. She's certainly an improvement
on the original ship of that name, which was a
treasure-stealer and a so-so fighter.
La Resolucion is in the same category as the USS
Franklin and HMS Gallows. All are average-speed,
four-masted ships with 2-rank cannons and a bonus
that effectively makes them 1-rank. Does it get any
better than this? Yes, in two ways, and La
Resolucion has both of them.
Unlike the other two ships, this Spaniard has a mix
of S-range and L-range cannons, so she can hit her
target no matter what kind of guns that target might
be immune to. She is also less expensive than the
Gallows.
Drawbacks? La Resolucion isn't the fastest ship on
the seas, so she'll need a Helmsman in addition to
her Captain. Her cargo isn't so great, but three
crew is all she'll ever need. The third crew should
probably be a Shipwright to repair all the damage
this ship is going to take in battle. But, oh, the
damage she'll dish out in return!
When I give a ship perfect marks, it doesn't mean
the ship has S+S+S speed, 8 cargo, and does double
damage with each 1-ranked shot. It means the ship is
very, very good at something that's worth doing, and
is also a superb value for the point cost. La
Resolucion earns a 5 for being one of the best
fighters you can buy.

Aah, my
favorite Spanish fighting ship! This ship is
fearsome. 13 points gets you average cargo, slow
speed, and great cannons, plus a killer ability!
Yesterday we had a ship for one point more and
one more mast with deathly worse stats.
Obviously the Spanish needed a good ship in this
pack, and here we are!
First
off, it needs crew. A captain, helmsman, and
Nemesio Diaz seems fair. That gives it the
ability canceller, plus a good move and almost
always rank-1 cannons. Sure, its expensive for a
4-master, but its worth it!
This is
my flagship for all Spanish fleets. A tad
expensive and a few low stats drops it a little,
but still, I love this ship!
