RK9 0wnz U!

Electric/Water (Definately Electric/Water, why would it be Fire? Just because I run RK9... and the fact that I have no Water Pokémon and no Water or Electric energy... =/)

Hastings

Kennewick, WA

Friday, May 3rd (Spiderman!)

30 or so people

By Matthew.

Here goes! I'm trying to make history (at least at the league!) by winning the tournament 3 times in a row (the previous KDR's are here and here). Can I do it? Will I do it? And if a tree falls in the forest, and nobody hears it, does it make a sound??? The answer to all these questions (err... except the last one) and more... NOW!

=/ Okay... my friend, DeShaun, took my Venusaur deck, while my sister took my Rain Dance variant. We took the fairly long drive to the Kennewick Hastings, and counted decks. Than we started the tournament... here's the deck.

RK9 0wnz U!

Pokémon:

3 Base Growlithe (Maybe I should have 4... I often had trouble getting one)

3 RK9 (=/ Pure 0wnage)

3 Cleffa (The Eeeeeeekmeista! =/)

2 Magmar (Smokescreen is great, and Smog is pure 0wnage)

1 Scyther (TeCH... Fighting is sorta popular around here.)

1 Elekid (Nice card. It's great vs. Water)

1 Pichu (TeCH. It can make people cringe just by having it on my bench.)

1 Tyrouge (Hmm... not too shabby!)

15, 12 basic... nice.

Trainers:

4 Computer Search (This card is why I do well.)

3 SER (In RK9? uhh... why NOT???)

3 Lass (This is SUCH an 0wnage card.)

2 Item Finder (Very nice.)

3 Oak (GREAT card.)

1 Elm (TeCH. Sadly, I actually Comped for it once.)

1 Switch (MAN, the card ROCKS. Most underrated card ever IMO.)

2 Gust (Cool.)

1 Nightly (Insurance. I never needed it, but... I'm still glad it was there.)

1 Sprout (Hardly anyone uses defaults, so I can 0wn anyone. Also defaults Eco.)

3 Gold Berry (Just good.)

2 Pluspower (GREAT card.)

26 Trainers, mostly consolidated from last tourney (4 singles now, as opposed to 7). RK9 0wnz U! is now a better deck, especially in this area.

13 Fire (DUH.)

1 Recycle (MAD TeCH)

3 DCE (great with Scyther, RK9, retreating...)

2 Metals (Very funny!*)

19 energy... heck, it works.

And by the way, I got several E-mails after my last KDR about how "your deck sucks" and "if you thought those battles were tough you wouldn't have a chance at my Pokémon League". Please, as I've said a bajillion times, this area is a low-skill area. If I had too, I'd run Clefable, or maybe Wigglytuff. But RK9 is more fun to use, ya know???

Here goes... the tourney was single elim.

Round 1: RK9 0wnz U! versus Bye! with Bye Bye Bye!:

I got a bye! YES!!! About time!

Round 2: RK9 0wnz U! versus Carlos' Doomed Fable:

This dude is easily my biggest competition (his decks aren't the greatest, but he's very skilled). BTW, Brolin, my skilled friend, was at a concert. I did a first turn Lass (after a Gold Berry on my benched Growlithe) leaving him with a Sneasel, a DCE, and a Darkness, but no Eeeeeeek, since I hadn't a Cleffa (I think I had Pichu out active). Instead, I powered up Growlithe with a Fire. He benched the Sneasel, and attached a Darkness to it. He passed. I laid a Fire on Growlithe, evolved it, and passed. He didn't know from my Lass that I had the DCE I needed, since I had drawn it this turn. He laid a DCE on Zappy, Gusted up Growlithe, retreated, Swiped, and did 30 damage. Cya, Sneasel! I lay the DCE and Take Down. He brings up the Zappy, and he passes. I Take him Down. I \/\/ | |\|!

Third Round: RK9 0wnz U! versus ??? with Complete Randomness:

Same thing as before, pretty much, except I Lassed, and then Eeeeeeeked. I just Took Down stuff starting on my 4th turn. Easy \/\/ | |\|.

Fourth Round: RK9 0wnz U! versus ??? with Gatrzard!:

Magmar was critical here. It stalled for a while while =/ I built up an RK9 with a Metal and a Gold Berry. I then tore through a 50 HP Charmander, a 50 HP Totodile, and a pair of Mysterious Fossils for the \/\/ | |\|!

FINALS: RK9 0wnz U! versus Estabon with Legendary Thunder!:

This kid... man, I always feel so sorry for him! He really tries to beat me, and here he came up with at least a quasi-decent deck... Lighting/Fire, Moltres (both) + Zappy (both) + Base 'Buzz + Non-holo Raikou + Charizard + MP Pikachu (Never saw a Raichu, and i watched 3 of his matches, this included =/). But it didn't matter. Instead of focusing entirely on Buzz he spent a bit of energy on Pika... once I Supered his Buzz, he had no defenses. I took all 5 remaining prizes in 7 turns (Ho-oh has 90 HP, so does Base Zappy... out of range of RK9 with a Metal). 0_o ... :0 ... ^_^ !!! I did it! Records shattered! YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<<gosh... 26 trainers, and all that I used were ONE Elm, ONE Oak, 4 Comps, ONE Item Finder, 5 Gusts, 2 Switch, 6 Gold Berry, and 4 Lass THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's only 24!!!>>

=/

In any case, Props/Slops time!

Yay...

This has been Matthew. (matthewssandslash on the Pojo EZboards.) You can E-mail me at yeagers@urx.com, but as I stated above, please don't attack me with how all my battles were "so easy" or about how my deck is "so weak". C'mon. If you E-mail me about this, which I welcome, E-mail me asking further details about the tournament (although I've stated about as much as I could), or KIND, NON-ARRAGONT ways to improve it. Thanks. You could also E-mail just to talk about Pokémon... whatever. =/

Have a nice day.

Remember to wash behind your ears.

Eat various types of cheeses.

0rangez are tasty... :)

Cya... Matthew.

Cya,

Matthew.

*Several people don't understand the Metal ruling, and the Gym Leader has a history of making incorrect rulings. So whenever the RK9 with a Metal attacks for 70/10, and they question it, before it goes to the Gym Leader, I say that I can explain, but that it'll be very complicated. Then I give them the option of trusting me, or waiting for me to explain. Nobody has ever listened to the whole explanation... they just trust me =/.
