EVAPORATE- Is this deck the best in standard? I don't know, I guess it
depends on your area's metagame. This deck even beats The Wall and Steel
Chansey/ Slowking decks in most instances. This deck has won me first
place in 4 separate tournaments. It easily beats Haymakers, R. Zapdos,
Sneasal, and Steelix based decks. The focus of the deck is hyper-energy
removal leaving your opponent in an energy crunch thus "evaporating" their
energy. It also focuses on copying your opponent's attacks. This deck's
weaknesses are of course against Fighting decks with Gligar and Chan and
Sprout Tower. But who uses Chan anymore? This deck abuses the Recycle
Energy like crazy. I use Super Potion instead of G. Berry because of the
Recycle. The downfall to G. Berries are that if my Clefable has 30 damage
and a Gold Berry attached and say Scyther attacks with Slash with a Plus
Power then dead Clefable. But the Super Potion can take off the 30 by
discarding the Recycle and returning it to your hand. Lastly, the Recycle
Energy is abused with Super Energy Removal and Blaine's Charmander Kindle
attack. Without further adieu I present to you the report from Excellent
 Adventures.

My son Nick and I arrive around 11:00 a.m. with our friends Dale, Adam,
and David. The Firefighters from Catskills were waiting outside the shop
along with Ben and Devon from our League. We waited for the shop to open
up at Noon. We did some trades and talked until about 11:30 a.m. when the
store owner Matt opened up early. Registration fee was ten dollars per
person with with a limit of 20 participants and 1st prize was a box of the
new NEO Discovery cards! Registration was from Noon to 1:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m.
the tourney started. The shop did get 20 people signed up by 1:00 p.m.
The shop has certain house rules that are different from League rules that
the owner went over prior to the tourney. 1st rule is that every player
must cut their opponent's deck. 2nd rule is that prizes are placed first
thing before you even draw your starting hand of 7! 3rd rule is that if
you mulligan 3 times then you lose! Final rule is that all coin flips,
dice rolls, etc. count anywhere, even on the floor.

1st round was a round robin 30 minute time limit every player plays each
player once. Due to time constraints by 4:00 p.m. the top 7 players were
announced and moved on to the finals.

1st match vs. Dale with Haymaker with Scyther, Electabuzz, F. Magmar,
 Sneasal, and Brock's Mankey
Match went back and forth with removals. I took 2 prizes early with
Beating Up his 2 Sneasals with Clefable. I powered up 2 Blaine's
Charmander and kindled away. He was in an energy drought for the whole
match. I had 2 prizes left to his 3 . I powered up Chansey for the win
by knocking out a Buzz and Scyther with Double Edge.
 Record 1-0.

2nd match vs. Ben with Sneasal Haymaker
Almost exact replica of the 1st match except that Ben did not use F.
Magmar or Brock's Mankey. I was able to knock out all 4 of his Sneasals
and won the game with Chansey's Double-Edge against 2 of his Buzzes.
 Record 2-0

3rd match vs. Ed with Dark Raichu
Luckily all Ed had were 2 NEO Genesis Pikachus out. I slashed both with
Blaine's Charmander and Plus Powers to win.
 Record 3-0

4th match vs. Little kid with Water and Grass deck
I forgot this kid's name. But these are the matches that you all have
 experienced. I start with a horrific hand - 2 Blaine's Charmander, no
energy, or draw power versus his 2 BS Squirtles. Luckily all he had was
grass energy. He was able to attach two grass energy to Squirtle. I
finally draw a DCE. I attach and Slash for 20. He potions Squirtle. I
slash again. He potions again. I draw crap and slash again for 20. He
potions for the 3rd time! I finally draw a Cleffa and place it on my
bench. He is like "Cleffa how cute" I slash and he potions for a 4th
time. Meanwhile he has a Misty's Dewgong with 2 grass energy attached to
it on the bench. I draw a SER and use it against the Dewgong. I scoop
Charmander and Eeeeeeek with Cleffa. I get what I need - Chansey and 2
DCE's. I finally kill the Squirtle and Dewgong for the game.
 Record 4-0

5th match vs. another water deck!
I forgot this kids name too. The match was so quick. All he had was a BS
Squirtle and I opened up with a Chansey active and Clefairy benched. I go
first and attach a DCE and Scrunch. He attaches a water and flips for no
paralyzation. I attach another DCE and Double-Edge for the win.
 Record 5-0

6th match vs. Girl with Venomoth confusion Chaos deck.
This girl was playing a confusion lock deck which was pretty good. I got
to see her last game because my 5th match was so quick. She would confuse
the opponent, free retreat, Chaos Gym, and then slash with Scyther. She
opened up with 2 Venonats. I searched for a Blaine's Charmander and
attached DCE to slash and kill both Venonats before she had a chance.
 Record 6-0

7th match vs. Karen with Fighting Hay
Karen was 4-2 at this point so I knew that she had a good deck and also
had my weakness. I open with a Cleffa active and Clefairy and Blaine's
Charmander benched. She goes 1st and low kicks Cleffa with Machop. She
wants me to flip because she said she didn't want to break her nails! So
I flip for her again and she kills my Cleffa. Go figure I flip heads for
my opponent then when it is time for me to flip I always flip tails.
Anyhow I evolve and promote Clefable G.O.W. her Chan and special punch for
 40. She jabs Clefable for 40. I Super Potion and knock out Chan. She
promotes Machop and low kicks for 40. I search and Oak for 3 Plus Powers
and low kick for 50 to knock out Machop and win.
 Record 7-0

8th match vs. Tim with a Trap/Typhlosion deck
I underestimated his deck and paid for it. The match was long as he was
stalling with smokescreen. His strategy was to on turn 2 the IOR and Trap
combo then breed into Typhlosion and power up Typhlosion via its Pokemon
Power. The match was long as he was stalling with smokescreen and me
flipping tails as usual. I couldn't find a G.O.W. all game. He powered
up the Typhlosion with the Pokemon Power that you flip a coin and if heads
search your deck for 4 fire energy and attach them to Typhlosion. He took
the last prize with Typhlosion by knocking out my Chansey.
 Record 7-1

9th match Josh with Dark Muk deck
Josh started out with 2 Grimers with the Poison Gas attack that puts you
to sleep instead of Poison. He got a second turn Dark Muk powered up
against my Cleffa. I SER his Dark Muk and commenced the beat down with
Clefable. I won by knocking out 2 Dark Muks with its own Toxic Gas
 attack.
 Record 8-1

The Gym Leader called time and said that the top 7 players at that point
would play off best 2 out of 3 for the finals. Here is a listing of
players and decks at that point:
 Devon - Steel Chansey/Slowking/Sneasal
David - Haymaker with Brock's Mankey and Kindle
Ray - Firefighters deck with Charmeleon and Hitmonchan
 Nick - Sneasal Haymaker
 Myself - Evaporate deck
 Adam - Clefable deck
 Dru - Sneasal HAymaker
The top player was given 2 byes and that was Devon who was undefeated with
 his Steel Chansey deck.

Quarter-Finals: Me vs. my son Nick
I faced Nick to much our chagrin who was playing Sneasal haymaker. Nick
pretty much knew that I had a better shot at making the finals so I don't
think that he was playing his hardest. I beat him both games by Beating
 Up his Sneasals.
 Record 10-1

Final 4 was me, Ray, Adam, and David

 Me vs. Ray for Finals
Top 2 Fire fighters face off. Ray's deck gave me problems as I was weak
to Chan and Machop. The 1st battle went back and forth. Ray had 3 prizes
left to my one. Ray countered all match to my removals with removals of
his own plus he kept on using energy retrievals and energy search to keep
his Pokes powered up. Ray evolved Machop into Machoke. I was able to
keep enough energy off of Machoke and won by Metronoming Submission.

2nd battle Ray got off to a very slow start and I was able to power up 3
Clefables and metronomed Charmeleon and Machoke for the win in like 5
turns. Great game Ray. Congrats to making the final four!
 Record 12-1

I get to watch to see who makes it to the final to play me. David beat
Adam in about an hour long battle. David then faces off Devon with Steel
Chansey. David wins 2-1 with the use of Sprout Tower and Brock's Mankey
to Taunt out Devon's Slowkings. That was also a long battle.

 FINALS
Me vs. David(Electabuzz, Scyther, Blaines Charmander, Brock's Mankey)

Match 1 - This match went back and forth removing each other. I was able
to force David into an energy crisis and my Clefables killed off his
energyless Electabuzz's for my last 2 prizes.

Match 2- David started off with 2 Scythers, no energy, and all removals.
I started with Cleffa and 2 benched Blaine's Charmander. He could not get
any draw power the whole match. He tried all he could by wasting his
removals on my Recycle energy. In the end his Scythers could not
withstand the Slash for 40 because of Fire weakness.
 Record 14-1.

So I receive a voucher for NEO Discovery box when it comes in June.
Second place winner David received all of the League promos from Ivy
 Pikachu to Igglybuff.

Props to all the fair and fun game play.
Props to 4 firefighters in the top 7.
Props to Gym Leader for organizing and running the tourney.

Slops to no prizes given out to the 4-7 place finishers
 Slops to weird store rules.
