To: KillerDecks@Pojo.com
Subject: Wisper in the Wind vs.2 STS Qualifer Report
Date: Thu, 31 May 2001 21:31:08 -0500

Nashville,TN
STS QUALIFER TOURNAMENT
May 12, 2001
42 People in 14 and younger group

Yo, Pojo people's! Its Maccy, once again, and I went to the STS Qualifers held in Nashville. There was some tough battles and some *cough* *cough* battles. Here's the stuff:

Wisper in the Wind version 2

12 PKMN

3 Sneasel
3 Electabuzz
3 Ditto
1 Cleffa
1 Rocket's Zapdos

15 Energy

4 Darkness Energy
4 DCE
6 Lighting
1 Full Heal Energy

33 Trainer's

4 Oak
4 Search
3 Gold Berry
3 Plus Power
3 RSA
2 Item Finder
3 Bill
2 NGR
2 Bill
2 GOW
2 Eco Gym
2 Lass <which were COMPLETELY useless>
1 Scoop up

Wizard's said that the tourny was supposed to begin at 10:00, but, heh heh heh, they got some CPU porblems <and some other problems...> so it really didn't start 'till 11:45. I'm sure that every person has their own "I got there and, BOY, what a trip..."<that's why I read the reports> when they go to the STS, and the same with me. I met some people <but i forgot their names> and we had fun jus' playin' and hangin'.Then we FINALLY got to battle and here's went down:

Round 1; Maccy vs. Some Forieghn Dude

Deck Look: This deck was so pittyful, I'm not gonna give it a Deck Look.
This was the fastest battle I had. I started wit' Sneasel active and him a Dritini. I draw, throw a Darkness and two Plus Powers and Fury Swipes for the KO. I was the first one to finish their first battle, so I felt kinda speacial. MEANWHILE, this dude named Joey was dominating this freak. We start to talk and then we become friends.

1-0

Round 2; Maccy vs. <I forget>

I completely forgot this match. I remember...nothing about this battle. All that happened was I won and I was the first to finish the second round.

2-0

Round 3;Maccy vs. Some Dude...
Deck Look: This guy had an ordinary Sneasel deck, and this was gonna be a lil' easy for me.
I throw up a Ditto against his 'Chan and we bench a Sneasel. I draw, throw a DCE to Ditto, GOW to his Sneasel, load mi bench wit' Buzz and the sort and KO his Sneasel. He sends out 'Chan, throws down a Sneasel, and a Fighting to 'Chan and Jabs for 20. I draw, throw a Lighting to Ditto, Item Finder for a Gust, bring out his Sneasel, and get another KO. He send out 'Chan, lays down a Rocket's Chan,throws a Fighting to Chan and Jabs for 20. I throw a Darkness to mi bench Sneasel and hit him for 40. He draws, puts a Fighting to 'Chan and KO's Ditto <he's the first one to actually KO any of mi Poke'mon>. I send out Sneasel, Search for a Darkness, and I KO all his Poke'mon.

3-0

Now, we take a lunch break. I went with Joey and his friend to Taco Bell EXPRESS <we take EXPRESS very, VERY loosely because there was only one guy working. I felt sorry for the dude>. There is only four people 3-0 now: Joey, A person who went to the last STS and sat by Ness, A guy who looked like he spent a lil' too much time listening to Nervana, and Me!

I go back to the STS Qualifer store, and Joey and I are pretty nervous about facing each other, we want to save that till the finals. We got very lucky, and he got pared to Mr. Nirvana while I had to take on Mr.STS himself.

Round 4; Maccy vs. MR.STS

Deck Look: He had an odd combo of Muk and Ditto wit' a few Chansey's. I didn't see the rest, but it was absolutely koo. BTW, this dude said he wasn't feeling good, so his playin' wasn't up to the top.
I start wit' a lone Ditto, while he had a Chansey active, a Chansey and two fossil Grimer's benched. I lose flip. He throws a DCE to Chansey and a Gold Berry,too and Scrunches, for a tails. I'm nervous. I can see the plan. He'll Double-Edge me twice and even if I have a Gold Berry, he'll send out Grimer. I throw a DCE to Ditto, and a Gold Berry to 'em, and Scrunch for a heads. It goes on a bit, the scrucnhing war, and he now has a fully powered Chansey benched AND active, while I desperatly stall. I flip for a Scrunch. Tails! Mi Ditto has nothing on it, and he has 40 on his Chansey. I can see the end. Its over. He'll Double-Edge me, and send out Grimer for the game. But- THANK GOD!- the grueling taco kicks in on his stomache. He can't take the pain! He isn't thinking straight, and he uses SCRUNCH!!! Tails! I'm releaved! I draw an Oak, get a few Poke'mon on the bench. I jus' sit on easy street while he, eventually, decks.

4-0

Me and Joey are the only two wit' 4-0 status, and we knew it would come down o this. I didn't mention this at first, but the first five matches were swiss, then we take the top sixteen players and throw 'em in a single-elimination match. So its now the finals of the swiss, and Joey and I are going for this match jus' for seeing who can go undefeated.

Round 5; Maccy vs. Joey
Deck Look: This is an 11 year old dude who runs a Sneasel/Mucrow/Slowking deck. I have never played a Murcrow/Slowking deck before, so I had a disadvantage here.
I start wit' Buzz active and Ditto and a Sneasel benched. He starts wit' Sneasel active and a Slowpoke benched. I win the flip, Scoop Buzz, send out Ditto and get a first turn KO. He sends out his 'Poke, draws, plays Switch, and throws down a Murcrow, locks me up. The game goes on for sometime, I get three fast KO'S. Jus' when I though I had the match, he sends out Sneasel,which is fully-powered, and gets two Slowkings into play. I couldn't make a come-back to that, and he eventually KO's all mi Poke'mon.

4-1

Havin' fun yet? Well, its not over. We got four rounds of single-elimination, and this is what happened:

Round 6; Maccy vs. Confuse Dude
Deck Look: This guy thought the STS Qualifiers was held jus' like the STS. He brought a strange Blane's Arcanine deck and was obviously not concerned of the first and second prize: Two tickets to New York!
I don't remember much of this match, but Ditto got out there and stomped upon his Arcanine and co.

5-1

Round 7; Maccy vs. ???
Deck Look: I have never seen this dude before, but he runs a <sigh> Slowking/Choas Gym deck.
I don't remember much of this match, 'cept once he got Chaos Gym out, he got us both disrupted, and I eventually won once I got Eco Gym out.

6-1

Round 8; Maccy vs. ???
Deck Look: I haven't seen this dude either, but he was pretty dumb to run *cough* Promo Mewtwo in his deck. So-I'm taking a shot in the dark- its a Mewtwo/Zappy sponge deck. BTW, this is the semi-finals, and the winner gets GUARUNTEED tickets to the STS.
I have awful memory with the last matches, but I GOW'd to his Mewtwo's to stall when I had Sneasel active. Ditto got out there and Psyburned/ Electroburned the competition. He fought back with Gold Berry's and Buzz's. When the smoke cleared, it was mi Electabuzz vs. three Promo Mewtwo's, the active had a DCEand 30 damage . The prizes are 2-1, mi favor, and he obviously had a bunch of faith in mi luck, because he passes. I was in shock. I couldn't believe he would allow the fate of the ticket's to be in a coin flip! Well, I drew a Darkness Energy, attached it to Electabuzz, and Thunderpunched for the KO and for the tickets. We shook hands and I guess he left.

~~~~MEANWHILE~~~~
Joey got a HORRIBLE hand against his semi-fianls oppenet, which eventually turned into a loss for poor Joey. So it was me versus the dude who defeated Joey in the semi-finals.
Round 9; Maccy vs. ???
Deck Look: He has a deck similar to mine, only he ran Scyther.
I wished this was one of those battles where the whole game relied on the flip of a coin. In a way, it kinda was. I jus' got out Sneasel, Beat Up'ed a whole bunch of Poke'mon. His last Poke'mon was a Scyther, and I fliped 5 coins,4 which were tails. So it was all on mi last poke'mon <Electabuzz> the coin goes flying into the air. And it lands on a heads! The guy said it wasn't so bad, because we both get the same prize anyway.
Yay...I win free tickets to NY. I'm really *yawn* happy. I'll be happy when I win the STS, but that'll be in a bit...
PROPS-
