Hello Pojo Fans,

ZW – Dragonic Halberd is an Xyz for your ZW Weapon monsters to be used for instead of Utopia protection.

Two Level 5 monsters won’t be tough as most of the weapons are Level 5 monsters that can Special Summon themselves, or Level 4 monsters that can combo with Zexal Force to get to Dragonic Halberd. Not being able to attack directly hurts this card, but with the ease that you can summon this with the ZW Monsters, I understand the restriction. Zexal spell/trap searcher off a detachment, a nice 1-for-1 with a possibility of six total targets you could run. Your prime targets would be Zexal Force and ZEXAL Field if you want immediate results. Dragonic Halberd, while a Xyz monster, can also attach to Utopia and boost it even higher (by 3000ATK). If that Utopia destroys a monster by battle you can get a mass summon of ZW monsters attached to that Utopia. While this may seem inconsequential, it does set you up for more Xyz summons and the potential to loop another Dragonic Halberd summon and equip to your Utopia. If you use only ZW – Monster cards for Dragonic Halberd, you will have two monsters attacking after your Utopia and have another Xyz Summon in Main Phase 2.

Dragonic Halberd is a good field beater to open up direct attacks for your Utopia monster(s). It’s a good searcher to set up for support for your Utopia and can give it more power and can even Special Summon monsters if you used the right ones. It doesn’t give protection when equipped, but with a 3000ATK boost any kind of protection may have been overkill.

Leo Arms is no longer the only ZW Xyz we have, as Dragonic Halberd joins the crew.

Dragonic Halberd is a Rank 5 DARK Dragon Xyz with 3000 ATK and 1200 DEF. A great ATK stat for a Rank 5, DARK and Dragon also makes for a good combination in theory. The summoning requirements are any 2 Level 5s, so generic and easy to summon is a positive. This monster can’t attack directly, probably cause they don’t want you just slapping a 3000 ATK Rank 5 out to attack with. It’s a downer, but it’s fine since you likely want to just equip this to your Utopias anyways. As a soft once per turn, you can detach a material from this card to search for any Zexal Spell/Trap. We only got the ones in Lightning Overdrive of course, but another searcher for Rank-Up-Magic Zexal Force is nice, alongside Zexal Construction to search any other card you might need. You of course can equip this from field to a Utopia and give it a 3000 ATK boost, which is significant of course. If the Utopia this is equipped to destroys a monster in battle, you can summon any of the ZW monsters equipped to said Utopia, helping get more damage and then being able to equip themselves back to your Utopia during Main Phase 2. Overall, Dragonic Halberd is an okay Rank 5 for the archetype. You might not summon this too often, especially when we get Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray, but it’s good to have this in the Extra Deck when it’s needed.

Art: 3.5/5 I don’t know, I guess Leo Arms as better artwork.

ZW-Dragonic Halbred is a beefy XYZ Monster.  3000 attack on a generic Rank 5 is awesome.  Dark/Dragon make sweet love to each other, and just needing two Material make this a really easy card to Summon.  The can’t attack directly is obviously a bit of a downside, but I guess that’s the price you pay for a Monster that easy to Summon.  Detaching a Material nets you a Zexal Magic/Trap from your Deck to your Hand.  There isn’t a great deal in this set for the card pool YET, but that will be more helpful later on.  A Utopia Equipped with this gains 3000 attack.  Interesting you can’t have only one of these Equipped after seeing how yesterday controlling more than ONE Monster with a 1000 attack boost was too much.  If said Utopia destroy a Monster in Battle, any ZW Monsters Equipped to it can be Special Summoned.  So it can break apart to deal extra Damage, which is fun.  You can always Equip them again later in the Turn or further on.  Or not, if that’s not your play anymore.  Dragonic Halbred is decent.  It’s not going to make (or hurt) the Deck, but not having one won’t break it either.

Rating:  3/5

Art:  4/5  Honestly, I think if the background were red and grey and the Dragon were blue and black it might have been better.  But this is nice too.
