Serziel didn’t respond to Evil Eye of Selene so well, so now we have Zerrziel, Ruler of the Evil Eyed.

Zerrziel is a Link-3 DARK Fiend with 2600 ATK and arrows pointing Up, Bottom Left, and Bottom Right. ATK is great for a Link-3, again I like the DARK Fiend combo, and those arrows are fine even when I’ll always prefer a side arrow over that Up one. The summoning requirements are 2+ Evil Eye monsters, which gives me hope for this archetype getting a Link-2, maybe an upgraded version of Medusa just like how this is for Serziel, but otherwise you can use Evil Eye Mesmerism to steal an opponent’s Link-2 that is weaker than an Evil Eye monster you control and treat it as an Evil Eye monster if you control Selene. This card that was Link Summoned using a monster with 2600 or more ATK can attack twice each Battle Phase, which getting a monster in the archetype to 2600 ATK or more isn’t too hard with Selene since this card doesn’t say original ATK. While this card is equipped with Evil Eye of Selene, as a Quick Effect you can target any card your opponent controls and destroy it. An upgraded version of the original Serziel should have better destruction, and this upgrades it further beyond what you may expect since it destroys any card instead of just any monster. Having this removal is great and I can’t imagine many excuses to not using this every turn. The effect to destroy a card on the field is a hard once per turn, but I don’t know how often you want to summon multiple Zerrziels and I’ll get into that in a bit. Once per turn, during the next Standby Phase after you popped something, you must negate the effects of a monster this card points to. This is so easy to play around by just not summoning to zones this card points to, or just negate an opponent’s monster that this points to, meaning that Up arrow isn’t as bad as it seems, even when your opponent doesn’t have to and will maybe choose not to summon to that zone until they can kill this. This downside is the best one arguably since it is the easiest to play around and you can use this on the opponent’s cards as well. Now, the only issue is that Evil Eyes isn’t really much of an archetype to try and do everything to get the investment into summoning this, so it’s more or less like a backup to have in the Extra Deck when it would be useful and summoning it isn’t too bad with the card advantage you currently hold. If the archetype had a Link-2 worth summoning, then maybe one day it’ll eventually be more worth it to invest into summoning this even when it might not be in the same turn you summoned the Link-2, but at least you can build up to it while not feeling like you’re going too far out of the way. Zerrziel is still a decent card that will only get better if the archetype gets that Link-2, so still having a copy is fine, even if it’ll get banished off a Pot of Extravagance that you might play in the deck, but having the backup plan for when you can summon it is just fine.

Advanced Rating: 3.5/5

Art: 5/5 Looks more dark and twisted than Serziel was and I love it.

Zerrziel, Ruler of the Evil Eye, closes our week.  We have a Link 3, Dark attributed Fiend, with 2600 attack who requires 2+ Evil Eye Monsters in order to be Link Summoned.  Arrows here are to both bottow diagonals, and directly above.  Let’s see, if you Link Summon Zerrziel with a Monster that had 2600 attack or more, this card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase.  This is good.

It doesn’t have the BLS stipulation they have to be in a row, and it doesn’t say anything about how one/both can’t be direct, so if you get two in, that’s 5200 Damage right there.  And, what shouldn’t surprise anyway, this card works very well with Evil Eye of Selene as well.  It has a Quick effect of its own, as we saw earlier this week, when equipped with it.

Once a turn, you can Target and Destroy a card your opponent controls.  Monster, Magic, or Trap, face-up or face-down, just destroyed.  That’s wonderful too, and with good attack, it may not seem necessary, but it makes things easier.  If you use said effect, once a turn during your next Standby Phase, you must negate the Effect of an Effect Monster this card points to.

That’s most likely going to be one of yours, but you might be fortunate enough to have an appropriate Monster above of your opponent’s.  I don’t see this as the end of the world, just use this card wisely.  Be sure you met the criteria to get the double attack, get the shots in, and win quickly, and that won’t be a problem at all.  It has potential, without a doubt.

Art:  5/5  This kind of strikes me as art reminiscent of Yubel, but I like it very much.  Lots of grey and dark here, but still manages to keep some brightness, namely in the eye.
