Deck Fix: Silent Swordsman
July 13, 2005

Hey guys! Sorry about the Power Bond thing in the last article (it was rushed since I had been gone, forgive me), just disregard it and acknowledge Reinforcement of the Army. Anyways, I'll be doing a deck fix today, here's the email and deck that was sent in:

hello josh. this is my silent swordsman deck that i have been working on for three months or so now. well, i just need your opinion in making it more competitive and also helping on the competitiveness of the sidedeck. all fixes will be taken into consideration. thanks for your time. by the by, try to keep the deck at 40 cards, but i will allow up to 42 cards. the strategy here is that of a basic attacking deck's. try to summon silent swordsman lv5, attack, try to get out lv7 if need be. and lastly, i am not on a budget, so don't be afraid to suggest *money* cards, lol. thanks again.

Main deck: 40 total

Andrew you have an excellent start! Let's begin with tweaking the monster line-up a bit shall we?

-2 Marauding Captain

+1 D.D. Assailant

+1 Tribe-Infecting Virus

Reasoning: Maruading Captains are horrid hand management, they often inspire wasting your hand just to gain field presence, which can go to a 50/50 split of risks. Taking out the Captains and adding in Assailants gives you more field presence, not to mention removal, which this deck is currently low on. This should be a very good fix. Tribte, also, is self explanitory.

-1 Morphing Jar #2

-1 Command Knight

+1 Big Shield Gardna

+1 Asura Priest

Reasoning: Morphing Jar #2 is more harmful to the deck than good, it can either deck you out, or eliminate critical Magic/Trap cards. I'd stay away. Command Knight is really nothing nowadays, you're going to want Big Shield Gardna over Command for immunite to Crossouts, and the huge suprise factor of running into a 2600 defender. Asura Priest is anti-goats, which is critical to this metagame.

Onto Magics and Traps!

-2 Creature Swap

-2 Warrior Returning Alive

-1 United We Stand

+2 Scapegoat

+1 My Body As a Shield

+1 Graveyard In the Fourth Dimension

+1 Metamorphosis

Reasoning: Just on a limb, your sidedeck is factoring into this well. On another note, your side deck is VERY well made. You can either side out, or completely eliminate what I'm suggesting here. Creature Swaps are junk since Goats are commonly chained. Warrior Returning Alive should just drop completely since overall, its not compltementing the offensive side of the deck THAT much. United We Stand is just a horrid topdeck, we both know this. Adding in Goats provides defense like mad, we both know this as well. My Body As A Shield is amazing in this deck, no doubt (good idea on siding it), Graveyard in the Fourth Dimension is a Silent Swordsman replenisher (and optional fix). Metamorphosis is self explanitory.

The Trap line-up is fine. Although I don't like Waboku, I'm sure its fine for you here. Here's the final copy:

1 x Silent Swordsman LV7

2 x Silent Swordsman LV5

1 x Airknight Parshath

1 x D.D. Warrior Lady

1 x Breaker the Magical Warrior

1 x  Tribe-Infecting Virus

1 x Big Shield Gardna

1 x D.D. Assailant

2 x Silent Swordsman LV3

1 x Asura Priest

1 x Exiled Force

2 x Shining Angel

2 x Blade Knight

1 x Sangan

2 x Scapegoat

1 x Metamorphosis

1 x My Body As A Shield

1 x Graveyard In the Fourth Dimension/Delinquent Duo (although not previously mentioned, this is the other idea)

1 x Heavy Storm

1 x Mystical Space Typhoon

1 x Pot of Greed

1 x Graceful Charity

1 x Premature Burial

1 x Swords of Revealing Light

1 x Snatch Steal

2 x Reinforcement of the Army

1 x Book of Moon

2 x Nobleman of Crossout

1 x Torrential Tribute

1 x Ring of Destruction

1 x Waboku

1 x Mirror Force

1 x Call of The Haunted

Total: 40 cards

Hope you enjoyed the fix Andrew. Staff writers, please answer my email, let's give the readers something to look forward to. Laterz guys! I'll have one more fix later in the week!
